I left this game for a small amount of time and now that I am back, it sort of seems like an even bigger disaster than it was before I left.
Which is sort of sad because honestly this game has so much potential that its crazy. I think its really cool that the CCP company puts it out as a free game, but I feel like that's to beta test it and see what works, what doesn't and what draws the ire of the player database.
When I downloaded this game, I noticed its about 2.8gb worth of data. What is the current limit for Playstation 3 games as far as data goes? 6-8gb? Titles like Assassins Creed and Bioshock were definitely in the higher 6gb+ range, not to mention Mass Effect, Skyrim and other memory intense RPG titles.
So they've only used about 1/4th of a normal game allotment. If you think about it, it shouldn't be surprising at the lack of content and the lack of proper working gameplay mechanics. CCP puts out EVE online, right? What does it cost to play EVE each month? Like $15?
They have....10 million players? Do the math 10 million x 15 = 150,000,000. One hundred and fifty million dollars a month. (Someone correct me if that's wrong)
In a year that would be one billion eight hundred million, 1,800,000,000 in cash money, buddy. They can afford to put out a free game but anyone who has that style of loyal customer base wants to put out another product to double their money. So I see a possible Dust 514 PS4 release.
Think about it....they've done all of this on the PS3. They see which mechanics work, which don't...what people like, what people don't. We're all giving them a yellow brick road to follow to build a disc-to-console at home release title with. That's legit the only logical conclusion there can be.
I think that's top notch and awesome....sucks that we are guinea pigs and we get to deal with all the bugs and flaws in the game, but it is what it is.
But seriously...the Fast the Furious tanks that glow gold and cannot be killed AND the seriously crazy Rail Rifle...what is up with that thing? Everyone in the game uses it. Its like the only weapon in Dust 514. What happened to the swarm launcher and the forge gun? What happened to the Duvolle ruling the entire game?
When I deploy I see like legit 4 tanks per each side, 10 seconds into the game team vehicle quota has been reached and you can't even deploy an LAV to get around quickly.
Factional Warfare is a nightmare...though the LP thing is cool but how can you get any LP when you get kicked out for wrecking YOUR LAV?
Anyway....that's all I had to say. I really had no point....maybe I typed it here to explain it to myself, who knows. Merry Christmas everyone. |

LOL CCP wish they had 10m players.
Try around 500,000 active players. |

That actually doesn't account for anything. Every PLEX in the system was bought and pair for with real money.
As for how well the company is doing, previous poster was correct that they only have 500k subscribers, and the last couple of years the company just can't seem to stop laying people off. At least they're down to laying off 15 people at this point; back in 2011 I believe 20% of the entire company was cut. |
