No intro.
When an active scanner is activated it will continously pulse data to the squad it will not stop until you press O or it runs out of power. As the scanner is running it will continously lose energy until it dies and enters a cool down state, at 50% of its power usage it will lose dB exponentially. When you unequip a scanner it will enter a cool down based on the duration it ran +ù 1.20. If it comes into cool down by itself it will be duration ran X 1.5. Un equipping it at any time stops the data flow to the squad.
What does this do? It stops people from spamming the scanner switching to the gun then reactivating it when the data flow ends, it also provides the opportunity to create dedicated scanners in squads rather than everybody using a scanner.
But now we lost a lot of data flow to the field.
FIX PASSIVE SCANNERS. Passive scanners project little data flow whatsoever thus they should work like active scanners work now except with a few limits. Passive Scanners start at 5/7/9/10 for heavy/assault/logi/scout in range. They will not project data to the squad and the dB at vanilla level will detect the suit below it's tier and equal except the heavy who can detect an assault, using dampeners greatly affects if you are scanned while amplifiers and enhances increase who you can scan.Passive scan cannot detect equipment. Shooting your gun, or activating electronics (equipment) will increase your signature radius by 35/15% respectively. For shooting your gun it will be for the duration of fire + 2 seconds, equipment will raise the duration only as it is being deployed or running (scanners and repair tools).
What this does is increase the field data flow while also minimizing it way below the scanner spam since it is limited It also adds slight realism when detecting enemies. It also brings utility to enhancers and amplifiers and a more complex stealth gameplay. Also I hope scouts benefit from this a lot.
Stealth gameplay enhanced
With both of these running the stealth aspect of this game will be greatly enhanced. Being stealth not only means hiding from scanners but other players who have upgraded themselves to scan you without you knowing (being passively scan doesn't tell you), also shooting your gun like a maniac will more than likely reveal you unless you are heavily dampened. And since the scout benefits from the longest scan range and lowest profile they can, species properly, always know where the enemy is. |
