Dust is finally more of a war ground. Tanks create a tidal effect of push and pull versus one proto side just stomping the other, anf it's great. By lessening tank costs, you have made tanks more commonplace, and so more people will use them If you did the same with Assault Dropships, I would kiss you devs. Everyone, it is true that the tanks are a little fast, and CCP that is why I said don't really touch them Lower the speed a little slightly, hotpatch it weekly until we love it mostly. But don't change anything else. It shouls not be one Dust mercy can take on a whole team of tanks. Think guys, the reason tanks are affordable is because they dont want Protoatomping! They want battles. Tanks scare Ptotis, and so you guys will now get tanks out to fight back. Stubborn you can't go 76-3 with an Imperial SR, cry me a river. This is New Efen, land where fair is foul and foul is fair. This is 1.7, where Dust is almost there. The Heavy Hotfix is in, now just so suits, scout love, gradually change the tank speed, Fix Scotty, and you can advance. Do not change the tank cost, Better tanks will simply cost more or having specific Modules, but this is a hell of an update and I take off my helmet to all of you. Now if you'll excuse me, I must put it back on, for war beacons. Repeat, Don't change the Tanks!

There are other ways on fixing protostomping and tanking is ruining the fun for the ones that wanna play a first person shooter, not a second person tanker u see?
If this is really the solution CCP found on fighting protostomping back... god help us all, i'll just unsubscrive my couple of eve accounts, uninstall dust from the ps and go play something else.

I hated it at first.. but its pretty cool now. Plus I get to whip out my State CBR7 way more. Ive adjusted my play style a bit. Basically just stopped running into open fields.
2 changes I would make : lower the tank speed, otherwise Lavs are pretty pointless other than disposable shuttles. The second would be give wp based on damage dealt to tanks.

Tanks have had so much love it is stupid at the moment. (PS I have a tanking alt with 9 mill SP into tanks)
Prices were reduced so it costs less to run than a proto suit WTF? militia needs to cost around -ú200k (if not more) with a maddy with adv gun costing -ú400k (if not more)
AV's were given the nerf bat
Swarms given the nerf bat
Forges given the nerf bat
Tanks got more speed
This is 5 big buffs to the tankers out there which was way too much, They have gone from one extreme to the other.
Did you know that you can have 2 hardeners on a maddy and a repper and have the hardeners active straight for two minutes. The only thing that could kill you is Decent rail gun but you could activate 2 hardeners if you have the second available and have 80% hardeners.

I've got nothing against Militia vehicles being cheap. After all, that's the part of the idea behind Miltia gear: something cheap with no prerequisite skills required for use. But when a Militia tank with no SP investment can easily escape Prototype AV (which can cost two-three times as much as a Militia tank), then something is wrong.
Militia gear should be fuctional but, without passive skill bonuses to back it up, inferior to higher level gear. But this template is a bit difficult to apply at the moment because of the lack of variety in vehicles. So for now I'd make a slight buff to AV and vehicle passive skill bonuses (so people actualy skilled in vehicles can be a threat on the field while still making money) and a slight nerf to Militia HAVs and vehicle modules.
Notice I said slight adjustments, not the rather ham-handed approach they used for the new build.

Im not saying this is the only reason they did it, Im simply suggesting this is good. If you hate all the tanks, just keep one in your repitoire, and recall it once the tank has been destroyed. Use your AV on tanks wounded by other tanks, don't just charge at it and think oh yeah I'm Rambo and I can take out a whole army. I also suggested a slight Nerf to their speed, but again, with weekly hotfixes. I myself am not a tanker, I just now realize this is a whole different ball-game. All I ask is you guys adapt a little...

Speaking of cost.
You know, that is exactly what tankers said for many months. The cost of the tanks was to high to justify a single swarm launcher taking one out. Or a forge or whatever AV.
We stuck it out, for months. We were given promises, and received nothing. Untold amounts of ISK were lost because of the over the top AV.
Now, you are saying the exact same thing we did. How does it feel?
Now live with it for 6 months and tell me how you feel.

i actually havnt noticed many pubstomps so far. allot of the stomping seems to be toned downed due to our new tanks.
i like the fact my decently fitted mlt tank can actually support my time by helping to push objectives and combat enemy tanks at the same time.
although i think hardeners could be given a side effect. one that immobilizes when activated. |

I love the new tanks. I love what they've done to the battlefield and I think it's healthy for this game that anyone can hop in a cheap militia tank and potentially do some damage. This is probably the best thing CCP has done for the NPE so far.
Everyone needs to calm down and let vehicles really sink in before panicking. Let's take the time to learn how AV and vehicles interact before crying that the system is broken. You can't combat vehicles with AV like you could in 1.6 but AV is a far cry from being broken.

are you kidding me? most battles i fight are a tank spam on one side or the other. ( i play skirmish not FW)
the tanks can all be red lining your team on the other side of the map, when you start hacking within 30 seconds you have 3 tanks rolling around the objective with active scanners.
i am sure as a tanker it does feel like your contributing to your team.......but if you cannot see that
a) the tank is too fast b) active scanners on tanks make things far to easy c) tanks are too hard to kill with anything bar turrets or tanks.
then you deceive yourself.

leave the tanks how they are maybe a small acceleration nerf but all in all tanks are fine. JUST ROLL BACK AV TO WHAT IT WAS ( NOT THE FORGE GUN SPLASH DAMAGE THO ). FIX THE AV NADES AND SWARM LAUNCHERS give the swarms more speed after firing. maybe you could add a extra missile to militia advanced and proto definatly need more range tho. The swarm launcher might be a weapon you fire and forget and people say noob weapon but you all forget that person hasnt got a primary infantary defence weapon so they are running with a suby or pistole knives if they are special lol. just fix the av |

fastest easyest way is slap 7 - 6 remotes on a jeep and go crash into them they die fast and easy thats the new av of 1.7 |

tank vs tank combat is more balanced.
sure i have been in a few matches where one team quickly spammed a couple maddies and gunlogis during the match.
u know what i managed to do? with my decently fitted mlt tank(which is pretty much just a complex 120 mm armor plate and blaster damage mod.
i managed to kill all of those tanks. with a little help from some av players. im pretty sure they lost a massive amount of isk judging by how many tanks were destroyed by me and those few random av players.
since they stopped bringing out tanks early on within that match. i then proceeded to patrol around the map to see if i could find any more to destroy. after a few mins i recalled the vehicle and went into ground combat..
ive had several matches like that so far yesterday.
and judging by how much more sp is required just to unlock tanks. and go into core skills. its one massive sp sink. it will be a while before i can get my hands on a maddy so i can make my "special" fitting to test out.
the massive corp stomps which were so deadly in 1.6 ive found to be a little less common now. ive had some decently close matches against a few of the many "top" corps. while running a sqd of randoms ive never met before.
not to mention ive been able to solo mlt tanks rather easily with my cbr7 swarm and std av nade combination on a cheap suit....
what could further be used to balance the apparent gap between av and tank would likely involve the hardeners.
tone them down to 20% resistance or make them immobilize or slow the hav down.
active scanners on vehicles i dont find as much of a hassle as i can easily avoid them while on foot.
honestly i think all the complaints about mlt tanks are just a few clever players who managed to erase av players memory of the "std" tanks which are more powerful than mlt variants anyways. so they can all create a "nerf mlt tank!" thread to spam.

Iskandar i have fought with you and you know who i am, i'm sorry but with all due respect, AV is so broke now and the tank virtual invincibility due to spamming, i for 1 got so tired of fighting tanks and losing matches because we're so busy we cant get to the nodes to hack them that i have now boycotted the game... i don't panic about it, most of my regulars have stopped playing because of this and have said they'll be back when CCP come to their senses i sank a lot of sp into my AV fit and it's now useless |

I can't believe I have to reiterate this again. If you are being spammed by tanks, get out a tank. They cosy very little, so dont complain about how you cant afford one, that is no longer an excuse. Yo stubborn to not get one, then stop crying about it and hide when they roll up. And all this about AV is broken? Maybe it is, but you don't beat a dead horse to make it get back up, you get a car. And by car, I mean tank. Stop being so stubborn as to stick with AV, just go into Militia tanks. Thank you for the decent posts though, this is an intriguing subject

Here, play ambush while facing 5-6 enemy tanks then let me know if CCP shouldn't hit tanks.
No CCP should hit tanks in terms of expenses. I remember before 1.7 that if I blew up your tank it cost you a pretty penny (inbetween 300k-1mil ISK depending). Now since tanks are inexpensive, people will just keep spamming tanks in left and right without their pocketbooks going empty.
So, yes tanks need to be changed to where tankers would think twice before calling in another tank if their first one was blown up. |

Doesn't matter if you make them cost 10mil ISK a piece. If they can rocket around the map, mowing everyone down with their hardeners on, then speed back to the redline until the cool down is over (that is if they don't have multiple hardeners stacked) they'll rarely, if ever, have to worry about buying more units. |
