Does anyone else almost neurotically use cheaper fits to always stay isk positive in matches?
I'm not really sure what I'm saving for other than the possibility of taking up derpship piloting at some point.

I limit my cheap fits, unless I REALLY like it but all my fits are cheap. I know how to fly.

and kinda related to this, what's the calculation for isk?
I played skirmish yesterday and went 17-4 w 1140 wp and got 156k
and just did a (terrible) ambush at 4-3 w 7 assts and got 198 (might be off by a K or so)
is it attached to team ranking or something?

I don't know if CCP has ever told us the whole forumula, but I believe payout is affected by these factors, at least:
-time in match
-rank (I see the effect of this very clearly)
-cost of gear the opposing team lost
RDVs are a failed experiment - can't we just remove them from the game?

I stay isk positive, but I like to have an array of good suits available to me, generally i run a certain number of "good suits" per match and if I need to go over I switch off to free fits.

I did.
Now, I just farm ISK elsewhere and it allows me to get more accustomed to consistently using Proto suits and how to take advantage of them.
Before, the differences between the suits never let me get settled into how it played and resulted in a lot of unnecessary confusion and unnecessary losses/deaths.

well when a medic starter fit can have almost 500 armour there really is no point in trying to play the meta-game.
the abhorrently low TTK has killed the point of militia suit tiers.
MLT should be able to kill PRO, but they shouldn't be able to drop me in 1 second flat.
This is why I now use a 1K FG fit, saw a PRO logi stacking 700+ armour today, BOOM, dead in one shot.
making a forge gun video as we speak of idiots stacking armour thinking they're invincible. |

I used to watch my wallet. I've been here for two buy backs of vehicles by CCP. I've burned 60 million ISK getting back in to vehicles, specifically assault dropships, since 1.7 deployed. I'm still 100 million ahead of where I was in 1.6. Until I drop below the 100 mil mark I'm not going to worry about it.
I lose a lot of dropships compared to the amount of damage I do to the enemy but I'm slowing improving.

It's more the WP's you have compared to the WP's your teammates have than rank. If there's a lot of guys on the team that have roughly 2k WP's the guy in 1st will make less that match than he would in a match where he has roughly 2k WP's but is the only one to break 1k.

I did it habitually too. Then one day someone was offering Templar BPOs on the forum, and suddenly my efforts didn't seem so pointless.

it matters where you place on the killboard. You probably got on a team that rolled over the other team in the skirm. The amb perhaps blueberries used your links more often as they got slaughtered. |
