So After a month or so of not playing dust, because ive been gaming on my PS4, i decided to come back for a few hours to see how good this update was and the general state of AV.
Well lets start with the new weapons.
The Sin kin Assault Combat Rifle is my favorite weapon to use and it complements my SMG's very well. The sound, feel and look of the weapon is Awesome. Same goes for the Rail rifle.
The new Visual Ques (Taking damage) are good and add a little more polish to the game. As well some sound updates really add to the experience.
Now lets talk AV VS Tanks. This is always a hot topic and i've been in full out debates with well known tankers such as Ted Nuggent and Lurchasaurus about this very topic.
Right now AV is essentially broken.
-Swarm launchers
Swarm launchers have so little lock on distance (175m) its absurd and don't get me started about the 33% damage nerf. Now i would be ok with this if tanks we're slower moving, but they move at mach 10 on the field and with so many thing to drive behind, to cut off line of sight. Even before if you were a smart tanker you would use the terrain to your advantage.
What would i like to see from swarms? More option to choose from for example you could have one variant that has a closer lock on distance (50-100m), but hits for maybe double or triple damage of current swarms, but also has a slower rocket speed or one that has a higher target range (200-300m) and moves faster (2-3x the current swarm speed) but hits for less.
Or have one that we can manually control, and as soon as you fire your suit goes into hardener mode (20-30% hardener on shields or Armor depending on variant you equip) and you fly the missile to target, using same flight controls as a dropship and depending on grade (proto, Adv, etc) would dictate your fuel/range.
-AV grenades
Av grenades should not have been nerfed to the extent that they are i mean seriously, i get within grenade range of a tank and they do less damage than my proto swarms?? and even with the old damage specs i would still need to drop a Nanohive and spam around 4-8 grenades on a tank to kill it. now its 6+ and that's ontop of hitting him with proto swarms.
-Promoting team work
As of right now even with a squad of AV targeting a tank, that tank will still survive 75% of the time, because it can use its speed to get away. The only sure way to kill a tank is to bring 1 or 2 people who drive tanks with you. This still leaves Infantry only squads at a huge disadvantage.
To solve that we need something that eliminates there speed, like a webifier. having just one person with this would help the team work element hugely and add strategy to popping tanks rather than just pure DPS.
Or another cool thing they could do is put hack consoles on the each gate to a compound and allow the controller of each gate to allow only friendly vehicles in and out, while enemy vehicles aren't allowed in or out until they hack the console.
With all that said do i think Tanks are OP? No, they just need to give us more options/Gear to taking out a tank.
In closing CCP you need flesh out the rest of the suits racial types and flesh out more racial variant weapons and Vehicles. You need to add more NON-DPS AV gear, Such as Webifiers and Cap drainers, and you need to add more Varients to Swarms and give us more DPS AV gear.
And Above all else you need to be working on a PS4 version. Hopefully you'll have a client out by Dust's birthday or by the end of summer. Until then ill be Shredding planes in warthunder and Wrecking fools in Planetside 2

nice to see you again.
you're correct on most points except for one. if there is a coordinated team fighting a tank, then it will more than likely die. i have 2 better solutions for you though.
1.) Rail Soma: slap on a MLT damage mod and it's doing 2200+ damage per shot at twice the speed of a forge. all for a fraction of the price of proto AV.
2.) Jihad Jeep: in case you don't know, this is when you stick REs to the front of a LAV(yes they stick now) and kamikaze it into a tank. if done successfully with enough REs, it's an instant kill to any tank.plus it's freaking hilarious.
Tell me, how exactly DOES a biscuit gain Valor?

One thing I haven't seen get mentioned is that installation turrets got a bit of an overhaul as well.
Railgun installations essentially almost got their power doubled.
Missile installations are freaking hilariously fun if anyone gets in range.
Smart tankers will blow them up. However most tankers are running blasters or missiles, and on the right map I can easily dominate with a Railgun installation.
Otherwise, completely agree with what you're saying. |
