Hi there if your reading this I am new to the dust community and I'm a starter heavy which means I only have access to basic gear and I was wondering if any one can give me tips and tricks and any builds that might help me in my campaign to be a heavy. |

Slightly longer answer because I'm not tired. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=98481&find=unread this might help a bit, it certainly helped me.
Be prepared for frustration, we heavies die even easier than an assault because we're too slow to get away, our hit boxes are as big as a Volkswagen and the HMG only does worthwhile damage within 30 meters. And then only on the center dot of the reticle, it has no spread contrary to it's description. All that being said, it's fun as heck sometimes, just don't run without a squad until you're proto, and then with caution.
FIND YOUR LOGI, even a random will do, you're dead without him.
I'm not fat, I'm just big boned!

The Learning Coalition does have at least one heavy insteuctor, Skeletor Voltron I believe. Keep in mind though, if you only talk to one, you only get one point of view and there are many ways to play the Heavy.
Not new, just new to you.

There are two main Heavy fits: Brick and Sports Turtle.
My Heavy, Crash Gaden, is a Sports Turtle fit. Meaning he uses Kinetic Catalyser to increase his sprint speed. This allows me to dash from cover to cover so I can then creep around a corner, line up my enemy and spry him until I start taking too much damage, at which point I duck back behind cover and repeat. Getting caught in the open is a very bad thing as a heavy.
However, the Sports Turtle fit is a very heavy skill point investment as you have to max out the Biotics skill. You will probably want to fucus on some more basic heavy skills first, even if you decide to go Sports Turtle rather than Brick.
Brick fit is when you put as much armour plate on your Heavy as possible. If you have a dedicated Logi-Bro with you, you may even replace your Armour Repair with more Armour plate. You will move even more slowly, but you will be tough enough to survive even a Remote Explosive blast.
To start, skill into basic plate and basic armour repair. Make a full plate fit for when you are squadded with Logi-broGÇÖs. Make a fit with a Armour Repair for when you are not. Then skill your Shield and Armour skills to 5. They give you 5% shields and 5% armour per level, and 5% of a HeavyGÇÖs base health is a lot. Then skill up Handheld Weapon Upgrades in the Weapons tree to get Advanced and then Proto damage modes for +5% and then +10% damage. Also skill up your HMG Operation Skill. When you get that to 5, skill Proficiency to 3 for more damage and level Rapid Reload a bit. You get Rapid Reload to 3 and it will shave over a second off your 8 second reload time.
If you are not running with Logi and you donGÇÖt have the skills for Kinetic Catalysers, you may consider fitting multiple Armour Repairs to allow you to recover faster between fights. Levelling Armour Repair to proto, or at least advanced is nice if you arenGÇÖt getting external reps.
I run a Standard Sentinel suit with Proto Heavy Damage Mode in the high slot, a Proto Armour Repair and a Proto Kinetic Catalyser in the low slots, a Standard HMG, a Standard SMG, and Flux grenades for taking out Drop Uplinks or Remote Explosives.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else, there is the Learning Coalition.

Get your core Shield/Armor skills up to 5 and your base HP of 480/480 will go up to 600/600 with out mods. This can help u focus on dmg mods and stam boost

Heavy looking for tips?
Here's the best one I can offer: Find a logi with a good rep tool and hives -- and be nice to him. He's your key to success.
Oh, and stay out of open areas. :) |

That guide will definitely help and you should know from the get-go you are not a solo crusher, but a team supporter. As a logi, here's a tip I see a lot of heavies make. Even with a logi repping you, your hit box is massive. I rep a lot of heavies that believe that since I'm healing them, that mean's they're invincible and they stay in the open to try and get the kill. Pay attention to your health and give yourself the time to find that cover again. Even with a core focused rep tool, proto rifles will rip a newer heavy down faster than I can heal you.
If you ever want a logi with you, msg me. Always happy to help the heavies.
