Generally, I like to play a hit and run guy, hitting the enemies' side hard and fast and hightailing it out of there. I run a Assault M/1-Series.
Now, I've tried the standard Combat Rifle (the burst one) and I quite like it. However, I've seen what the Rail Rifle can do and I notice that it hits quite hard.
For those flankers out there, what new rifle seems to work the best with this playstyle?
 Thanks!

I prefer the combat rifle for this.

The rail rifle is excellent if you hang back a little more though - If you flank at long range the rail rifle will absolutely slaughter people.

So much this, very useful on a scout or Minnie Assault imo.

RR all the way- the increased optimal is just too nice (78m at proto), and the longer effective range (100m+) helps with finishing off weakened enemies. It also packs more damage per clip than the CR.

I havn't used it but I can see it being excellent when outflanking enemies. I often sneak around the back of enemies and wish I had a better gun to shoot them in the back with. The fact that they're unaware of your presence negates the charge up time as you arn't going head to head.

Combat rifle for the Min Assault or scout. You don't have to stand too far away from the action. Rail rifle is too long range for me. I like my excitement to vary. With all these armor tanked idiots out there people are dropping like flies with the CR. :D

Thanks guys! Given the favorable feedback, I'll definitely try out the Rail Rifle this weekend.

IMO you can use the Combat Rifle as the best flanking tool in the game due to high rate of fire and scope, you can choose you distance and come out on top pretty easily.

Plus if you run remotes on your M/1 you make a very effective Combat Engineer who can fall back into his own mine field/ lay traps, and destroy unsuspecting tankers with ease.

Anything urban and its the ACR all the way. In longer range I might switch back to the standard CR for the extra range.

Assault ScP & Assault CR on a Minnie light is an obscenely enjoyable combo. The flanking potential of this setup is wonderful. The Assault CR kicks like a mule on speed, but when you're 10ft away and leaping through the air, that isn't going to matter.

 Concur 100%.

In all honesty, the rail rifle is starting to make my Shield energizers, regulators, and rechargers a little more relevant. I push to flanks and overwatch, get solid uplinks in and cover them for assaulters to stage at, and provide supporting fire to guys as they close the gap with the enemy. I am trying to work in the optimum range as much as possible and that is proving to be very effective.

If i do have to work in close then I switch to the SMG and I'm more than capable of using that to knock down some targets.

The interesting thing is that I'm not really getting any more kills than I used to with my ASCR...but I'm dying less and I think making a better contribution to my team. I attribute this to being able to play to my strengths more than simply run/gun and CQC - things that I am decidedly average at.

I've always been that guy to take the initiative and try to flank and/or get a pincer going. The combat rifle actually allows me to do this to the point that I'm shield tanking my logi M/1 series with a kin cat, energizer and dampener in the low slots. The new rifles feel great for shield tankers compared to the AR and ScR.
