Now, one thing I hear about the cycle of AV, Vehicles, and Infantry is that it is a cycles of effectiveness. To put in an a simple comparison, it isn't Rock-Paper-Scissors, it's Fire-Water-Grass. A cycle of effective, but not purely limited, combat. A Plasma Cannon can fry an Infantryman, an Infantryman can throw AV grenades, and a vehicle can fire on an AV unit as easily as an Infantryman.
I also hear that an HAV's Large Turrets are the 'true' AV weapons of the game, and that 'only an HAV should be able to kill an HAV'.
So wait... does that mean that HAV's Large Turrets are supposed to be classified as AV? So they should be ineffective on Infantry, right?
I'll stop the leading questions now. I'll also link my Crew Capacity thread for some background reading, as this ties nicely into my point about making the gunners essential crew.
Quite simply, I think this might be CCP's intent. HAVs don't seem to have an 'ADS' anymore like the Forge Gun, so this supports the theory. You don't need ADS to hit something as large as an LAV with a decent degree of accuracy. So if the Large Turret is an AV level weapon, why is it so effective against Infantry?
Well, firstly we must look at the HAV. An idea for balancing the HAV that myself and several others agree with would be to separate the Gunner role and the Pilot role, like every other vehicle. However, short of that, they could give the AV role to the pilot and the AP role to the gunners... but they just made gunner seats optional.
Secondly, the HAV pilots. The HAV pilots of the game would raise bloody murder if the Large Turret wasn't as effective against Infantry now as it was in previous builds. The now limited ammo of the main cannon, however, would suggest that you are supposed to conserve the bigger rounds for bigger threats and let the Small Turrets kill the non-threats that are Infantry.
Finally, the argument about calling in a vehicle for yourself. People will constantly use the argument that, if you call in a vehicle, you should be able to man it perfectly on your own. These people are obviously HAV pilots, or pilots of the relatively new Assault Dropship, because those are the only vehicles in the game that are useable by a single person. Don't want your LAV or Dropship to be gunned by a Blueberry? It's as simple as squadding up. Don't want to squad up? Don't complain. It's like an infantryman complaining about being outnumbered and gunned down. If he plays on his own against a coordinated squad he brings it upon himself.
So if Large Turrets are now AV, and Small are AP, what about the Large Turret Installations all over the map? Well, give them a Small Turret Installation either built in or nearby. The Large Turret for roving Vehicles, the Small Turret for roving Infantry. Those of you who aren't from the Mordu days may not remember, but we used to have Small Blaster Turrets installed all over the ancient map of Craterlake. We could have those days again, with Small Turrets slotted onto walls and embankments to make areas look like they were made to be defensible. Slot a Small Railgun Turret on the roof, Small Missile Turrets on the outer walls, Small Blaster Turrets at gates and other choke-points and tight areas that are inaccessible to vehicles.
Not only does this make the HAV more teamwork intensive, and safer for Infantry, but it also makes maps more interesting and tactical with the added controllable points and defensive devices.

Or you could considering give HAV significantly less ammunition and reformatting the current turrets to be single shot battle cannon style weapons with a focus on accuracy and range like the rail gun with varying levels of RoF and AoE to compensate and emphasise skill shot game play. That way main tank guns are primarily focuses on dealing with enemy vehicles, due to slower tracking speed, and vastly reduced RoF.....
but in order to kill infantry in a meaningful way light turrets are buffed.
This way any tank that remains stationary for a meaningful period of time is vunderable to an enemy closing on and planting remotes or taking AV grenades to the HAV.
To a Texan like you, a hero is some type of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three Gunlogi.
