Up until Patch 1.7, a player entering a vehicle would receive a tv screen prompt (or button "tip") telling her the two controller buttons most relevant to her next action (ex: 'hold square button to enter'; 'hold E to recall vehicle'). Once in the driver's seat of my LAV or Dropship, again two relevant button tips would appear ('R1 button to thrust', etc,)..and then would discretely leave the tv screen after a suitable period of time. This is a BEAUTIFULLY designed controller assist---it's there when you might need it, and soon taken from your view with excellent attention to timing and human concentration.
But in Patch 1.7, the appropriate button-tips are on the screen when I approach and first enter the vehicle,...and THEY STAY ON SCREEN throughout vehicle operation. They no longer discretely fade off. Of course it falls to human nature that, once you're thoroughly engrossed in maneuvering of the vehicle, the suggestive text on the screen becomes an aggravation and a visual block.
The only way I've found to trigger the text to fade off is to use the "Change Seat" button while I'm IN the vehicle (hopefully not while the DS is moving!). The instant I change out of the driver's postion into the next seat position in that vehicle, the button tip text will fade off as it did in previous Uprising patches.
I hope my description was detailed enough to help you pinpoint what I think MUST be a bug-fix issue. Cheers to your staff, CCP! |

Salutations!
Just posting this to confirm to you that, as of 12-18, (after the most recent Hotfix, perhaps?), the problem has been corrected, and corrected BEAUTIFULLY. Your staff not only cleared up the problem, but even appear to have polished the mechanic even a bit further:
Now, upon entering a vehicle there is a generous LIST of controller button tips, tactfully positioned on the screen, and after an appropriately-lengthened period of time (so that the entire list of tips can be read)... the text fades off the screen, no longer interfering with vision or gameplay.
This may not have been a super critical issue, but you sure attacked it with STYLE, and please spread around my Thanks. |
