These suggestions are written for the ADS, but some would help all dropship variants.
1. Stop making the camera reset when I stop moving the right stick. Throws off my aim, and it would be nice to quit having to correct it.
2. Make the dropship go transparent when looking down. This lets an ADS see its target, and removes a lot of guesswork. Plus, it will help regular dropships get a clear view of an LZ before dropping down.
3. Let me look down in 1st person mode. Not quite sure why I can't now, but it would definitely make aiming easier when in 1st person. And it would be nice to be able to see what's under me without flying into whats in front of me.

Agreed.
There are several unused buttons on the DualShock when piloting that could be used as a manual reset instead of forcing the reset on us. That would be a most welcome change.
I really like your idea of the Dropship's opacity being dependent on the camera's position. Previously, I had argued for an all or nothing approach, but I like this idea much more.
Yes please, but I think in flight instrumentation is the far more pressing concern. I WANT IT NOW!!! |

....I promised myself I would NOT contribute or comment on anymore 'DROPSHIP CONTROLS or CAMERA" threads. (I need to keep my promises...) But the fact that I haven't noticed your merc names much on the forum before makes me THINK that you might be new to dropship operating, so it's okay to place my suggestion. It's been said before, LOL
Most of the DS players have argued about the abandance of extra controller buttons available with the dropship, and how it's a perfect/simple opportunity to customize the setting availability, or activate flight-instrtument-based camera views, and of course to ALTER or MORPH the default camera view to "help" the *blank* better...
Even when we criticize CCP for their "next new change to dropships", I think the thing I want to praise them for is NOT giving in to the requests/suggestions you just made ...and believe me, we've ALL made requests like them before, because they on the surface seem like obvious and ideal ideas. But I THINK, (and I personally hope CCP is seeing it this way too) that: 1--opening up the game to a "customizeable settings for dropship" threatens to make this "a game about The DROPSHIP" (should the armed-bus really get the lion's share of attention in a game about fighting on foot?) 2--extra HUD cues and flight-pilot-oriented instruments will lead to more fixation (and later demands) on scripting the DS to be an aeroplane for us frustrated plane enthusiasts 3--and that any suggestions we've made to "improve" the camera view were always a "ME" point of view... we never could reach an "WE" consensus,... there doesn't NEED to be a consensus bacause we each enjoy the freedom to operating the DS in our own navigation-centered or assault-centered ways,...but that there DOES need to be one truly DEFAULT camera view that we can each equally benefilt from--and each struggle equally to adjust to (with no custom or changeable properties no matter who or what variation is flying)
Point #3 was the most grueling thing we've suffered through (made CCP suffer through too), and I think 1.7 has finally kept us from losing any more sleep. It's not that your ideas aren't sensible---THEY ARE GOOD, but.... God, I just would hate to open that door and go back there again. I'm hoping all the remaining DS hopefuls can struggle through with what meager assists the game gives them, and still become capable (maybe top notch?) without any tempting flight changing stuff. |

So youre worried that if CCP touches the dropships that they'll break them again? |
