The gunner is grossly over exposed and can be out DPS'd by most rifles still. (my gunner wears a heavy suit to gun and I have a Prototype Ion Cannon) The pilot and driver is exposed as and can be too easily shot out.
This is why in not one patch since Chromosome people have been using LAVs in every single way EXCEPT for what they were designed to be used for.
Possible solutions for driver/passenger: *Use a roll cage on the LAVs like you had back in the very first steps of the game *Give the LAVs a dang roof.
Possible solutions for gunner: *Use the armor plating the Dropships get for their turrets on the LAVs (Shown here).
I'd love to go back to the days when I could use LAVs for actual frontline support but with that 10% for all light weapons a while back it sorta put small turret gunning at a disadvantage. |

Nope. Going to roadkill everything I see. When someone messages me about it, I'll send them "Spread the word- buff AV". I'm not going to be passive-aggressive about it this time. I warned people over and over again that this sort of thing would happen.

"This sort of thing would happen" this has been going on for a year now what the **** are you talking about?

I'm talking about LAVs. People stopped using them as murder taxis (on a large scale) due to the mass number of lolswarms. As much as I would love to actually use the LAVs as, you know, vehicles with a turret on it, I feasibly cannot due to the sheer fact that the LAV's gunner, in the current set of LAVs, will be gunned down by pretty much everything. It's shameful, but I chuckle when I see a gunner before shooting him. That's not right. I shouldn't be able to laugh off something that (should?) be able to tear my ass apart.
The whole thing about road killing with LAVs that I mentioned- it's a protest against the reduction of all AV, spare for the Plasma Cannon. It takes an AFG to kill my militia LAV. Two shots, actually, from the advanced and possibly prototype. That's ****** up. With the downfall of swarms, LAVs are able to run rampant. People just haven't realized it yet. HAVs are the least of worries.
I'm hoping MAVs will be what you wanted, or will have what you want.

I'm going to assume you mean this for shield LAVs because armor LAVs can still get obliterated by Swarms (if they dob't have a hardener) but if you have your LAV to actual LAV style then an armor hardener is out of the question.
Shield LAVs were bad before with survivability, I really don't want to imagine them now. |

Make hardeners protect the driver, passenger and gunner. Also, LAVs need more slots for utility. They're about as limited as a commando suit when it comes to fitting them.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

At least The Caldari have a Saga II. The Gallente only have one Methana.

The LAV would be a lot more interesting as a miniature two man tank if the passengers were more protected. It doesn't need to be 100% but the gunner should at a minimum have a shield on the turret mount and require flanking to have a decent chance of shooting them.

i remember when i had my free default mlt lav fit. when first starting out a few months before uprising.
i could out gun a heavy with an hmg with the blast turret.
everytime i have killed a turret gun aiming at me i had to aim 4 the head.or had a height advantage. |

Better yet, rename LAVs.
What's the difference between an immobile Minmatar ship and a pile of garbage?
The pile of garbage looks nicer.

I'm not sure. I run my Methana just fine but I wear a heavy suit. That's the only thing about LAV'ing I don't like, it forces you to wear heavy or really tanked suits. As a scout I cannot operate my LAV so I have to keep them separate.
On the other hand these new rifles are insanely fast to kill, I myself popped a heavy out of an immobile LAV with a STD railgun in about a second from a good distance.
So I think that you should be able to live with the current system because if you can't it's at your fault, there are ways and safety measures for LAV'ing (with gunner+passenger)
- Everyone High HP suits
- Never stop for more than half a second
- Keep distance
There's more but I don't wanna bore everyone. LAVs are a very different vehicle when you operate gunner-centric.
