reading these forums makes me think so.
my main means of AV is remotes/proxies and STANDARD packed AV
i dont have any skill points into swarms, i dont even have a militia forge or swarm fits made.
faced with a tank, i either use my brain and avoid its fire, use my AV minefield fit (with maybe a breach mass driver), or call on some friends if its a toughie.
now i DO have my railtank, but i dont call it out when im running as infantry just to destroy tanks, i really only pul it out when i feel like being a tanker not really as a means of AV.
tank AV balance seems pretty damn close to good now, bad tankers explode without effort, good tankers reguire some craftyness on my part, and great tankers eat some damage and usually get away leaving my team free from its wrath so we can set up a more complex trap for it.
the speed thing is a bit much, they are a tad too quick but not by a whole lot.
swarms are mostly anti-air / LAV now and that makes sence to me, a whoel squad carrying AV granades = dead tanks left and right, seriously you guys dont even know the power you hold over tanks right now, AV granades from a squad has some serious alpha damage especially when paired with a prox trap on its predicted escape route.
skill into plasma cannons as flavor of the month AV please, i bought some federation LP ones and i have to say they are VERY effective at discouraging shield tanks, and combined with AV nades you can seriously cripple a tank REALLY quickly. against armor tanks they arnt as great but swarms are still a GREAT choice for when you face a maddy.
i think AV players had it way too easy before, every time a tank hit the field it was christmas, a new loot pinata ripe to take a hard swing at to get at those sweet sweet warpoints. and because of that easy time they never had to develop any sort of stratagy to taking on a tank and its really starting to show.
those of us who remember before uprising when tanks were to be handeled with care, who came up with plans and learned HOW to take out a tank as infantry are still doing it now.
i realise that tanks are being spammed right now, and you have to understand that its because they actually work now, they FEEL good to use, and everyone wants to try them out.
i dont want this to be a "get good" style post, just try to understand that these new tanks arnt all powerful, they can be taken down sometimes quite easily, and mostly its all about the skill of the driver/AV infantry. so if tanks are really bothering you, set aside some time and dedicate yourself to a few games are pure infantry AV, use some LP to try out things beyond your SP, try things youve never tryed before, and try not to get discouraged if you fail.

i can come up with a long list of insane things my and my guys have done that nobody int heir right mind would ever think of.
like a tower of tanks, stacking them one on top of each other for no aparent reason other then to see if we could.
using LAVs as ladders to climb overtop of city walls.
using the tower of tanks to climb up an even bigger city wall.
placing 40+ remotes at an objective and wating for some poor red to try to hack it..... then having a few people blow them up at the same time.
back when logi jeep roadkill was a thing we just use to pin them into corners with militia jeeps and shoot out the drivers... or novaknife them. then steal the cars and create giant roadblocks of stolent charbys with proxes underneith them.
throwing LAVs off of towers onto objectives below to kill people.
i have a whoel craplod more if your interested. |

Isn't it amazing what you can do when you step outside of Tryhard mode?
Almost reminds me of when my friend had us balance on top of his DS so me and another corpmate could have a Nova Knife duel.

When you have to put any and all infantry efforts on hold to take down a tank, that's when it's a problem.
You can't just have a bunch of ppl spawn in with AV. These days you have to pretty much come up with an entire battle plan just to take on a damn soma.
Earlier on today I was loaded into a FW that was just ending, so I called in a railgun some just to get some free WP from redline turrets before the match ended. I was assaulted by two guys with proto swarms, and all I did was turn on my hardener and roll casually back to my redline with minimal effort. This is not good game balance.

I don't share AV'ers problem. All I do is summon a DS - get on a roof - and farm tankers tears and hate mail. One FG, One Nano, a bunch of pissed off tankers.

thats what a supply depot is for....
and thats why the bases with the supply depots are the power bases, the ones who hold that base are the ones with a versatility advantage.
you can just magically swap out to new suits and nuke the tank and resume your buisness.
just like i have to swap suits from my opening rush uplink suit to my brawler, then again to my demolitions defence suit throughout the game depending on whats needed.
A) they attacked a shield tank with explosive weapons B) they did it when you had your hardener up C) they got you the hell away fromt he redline where you were no longer bothering them in any way D) they won that fight with the tank
AV is a specialisation, its a playstyle, i fully expect that there will be people who run around as AV all the time.
people who dont sdpecilise are going to have to swap suits yes, and no thats not a problem, thats normal, just as someone who doesnt run uplinks permantly has to swap to an uplink suit to drop them. just as people with multiple specs will swap between them duiring battles depending on whats needed.
ive died probably 15-20 or so times to tanks this week as infantry out of about 400 deaths....

we once had a death race on our district against team players, 32 people in LAVs and AV fits running around a track trying to kill each other with jeeps was HILARIOUS
lost the district... diddnt give a hoot.
so many rediculas things the Inf4m0us boys have done over this last year....
hell my main spec of demolitions is more a "lets watch people fly" then a "tryhard" way of playing... were not a serious bunch. |

THIS is your point... and its wrong... its baseless, its meaningless.
WHY is it a problem, when literally everything else thats similar (swapping to a different role mid battle to fill a need) is already delt with in the game and is considered "not a problem"
you stated your opinion, then failed to provide any meaningful substance that would back it up.
thats like me saying, Blackhole Nova is the best dropship pilot ever, then never telling you WHY so that you can understand why i believe thats true. then when someone asks me to explain why i just insult them and tell them they are arrogant for not just automatically believing the same thing instead of explaining why hes so awesome. |

For a Demo who can carry a rifle to fend off slayers while he does his business yes . It's a bit trickier for hand held AV who have a lot more to worry about . The question is not can the AV take out the tank ... but whether it's actually profitable enough to bother doing so dedicatedly. ATM the answer is no ....which those who spent months skilling into it feel rather 5th wheeldish...

To answer your over all question no. Dead Somas everywhere.
Using a Forge Gun against MLT tank swarms is sort of like beating off seagulls with an umbrella. You kill one hear and there but most get away. Thank goodness for swarm users and their obsession with dropping nanohives.
