Since wednesday, av vs Hav complaints have hit the all time high. but Instead of commenting on how to make the war even, you continue to argue over the same ideas on a ridiculous amount of threads. I think it is time to come together and think how the game can become balanced once and for all.
CCP does listen to us, and through all of the different sides that you present, they take forever to change a thing because they have to decide what side is right. if we could all agree on a single change, they can playtest it themselves, and get an update out sooner.
Let me start off the ideas....
We all know that the reason that tanks are proficient now is that they can get out of a zone in no time flat. Swarms have a hard time keeping the vehicle in range, and the speed makes hitting them with rails / forge difficult. instead of nerfing the speed of the vehicles outright, perhaps we can come up with a weapon, like a grenade that instead of damaging the vehicle, this av weapon is a webifier that will slow down the tank, and allowing more shots to be taken off of them before they could retreat. this would allow vehicles to have the raw speed to escape, but they cannot always depend on it, as they could be webbed, and if the webifier is used correctly, the tank can be crippled at just the right moment for take-down.

thats the beauty of 1.7, becasue they completely redid vehicles to make them simpler, it becomes easy to add things without noise. We could try things like the webifier, or even variations of current weapons ( swarms that either do more damage, or have more range) one at a time to try and balance while giving everyone a fair shot. the community just needs to sit down for a while and come up with a solution together

Webifier grenade- Reduces movement speed for 15 seconds (effect cannot stack in order to stop nade spam. must hit the vehicle again when effect weirs off. Time of active effect is subject to change for balance.)
Mlt -30% movement speed 1 grenade
Basic -30% movement speed 2 grenades
ADV -40% movement speed 2 grenades
Proto -50% movement speed 2 grenades
(Percentages subject to change depending of balance)

It's Only 4 days into 1.7 and everyone is yelling OP and whatnot. Let's just give AV time to relearn how to AV with the new tanks, because the old standing and shooting isn't going to work anymore.

I don't run vehicles so I don't know if the speed problem is just that broken militia module or if their baseline speed is too fast, but which ever it is they of course need to be slowed down.
As for AV I think the double nerf on the swarm launcher was too much. With an advanced SL an installation takes 4 shots to destroy. Friends tell me the proto SL takes 3 and with 2 damage mods and some proficiency you can get it down to 2. I would decrease the recent SL damage nerf by half and add 3 to the total amount of ammo they carry. Most of all I would like to see a new AV option. We have grenades, 1.5 light weapons (plasma cannon only counts as a half a weapon since despite being advertised as a "AV" weapon all the people I know who use it say its better against infantry) and 1 heavy weapon for AV. |
