Who says that Minmatar is even getting a tank? Personally I'd like to see that ccp really tries to emphasize the differences between the different races styles of ground warfare.
Sort of like they did with the Amarr (being the only race with heavy dropsuits), which makes the Amarr stand out in flavor.
Minmatar usually favors speed and manouevrability. So rather than just getting another boring tank I'd like to see something like a mech perhaps. Very "Aliens loader-esque" in appearance but with guns (like the Minmatar basically took an industrial vehicle and just welded some armor plates to it and mounted some armor shredding, heavy calibre slug throwers to it).
The drawbacks would be that it probably won't be as durable as the gallente or caldari tanks, and maybe it shouldn't have an equal top speed when travelling in a straight line (given time to accelerate, tracks are faster than legs after all). BUT it could be able to accelerate faster AND since it has legs like infantry, it could strafe from side to side like no tank can do.
To me, this kind of solution would be much more interesting rather than just throwing another tank into the mix. After all, re-writing some stats isn't very innovating.
Plus, having played Killzone 2 and 3, I had a blast clanking around in the mechs in those games and it's something I've always wanted to do in dust. :) |

They already released pics of what the new vehicles and suits for the races look like!

@Leonid
The only reason the Amarr are the only ones with a heavy suit is because CCP hasn't released them yet.
Every race should have their own version of each type of dropsuit, vehicle, etc.. This is because each of them fill a certain role on the battlefield that a military would be disadvantaged not to have. Even if they are fast, Mins still need a vehicle that can take and dish out lots of damage.
