So today I decided to test the Breach Assault Rifle after being reminded about how "inferior" it is to the other rifles. I used quotation marks because I'm curious if the Breach's style of play can be effective now. It's for short range confrontations and it's focus is on putting out the highest damage in a short amount of time in CQC. I thought it didn't have a role but I'm hoping it does...even if not "officially" and only in meta.
Around my first go, I realize that the Breach isn't as bad as I thought. It does need Complex Damage Mods to take it to it's peak damage. I decide to go with a Gallente-based(I'll be trying to stay close to Gallente-gear as possible throughout my experiment) hit and run fit because with only 36 rounds in the standard, I'm swift to get screwed.
So far it's not too shabby. It hurts like hell but the ammo and the rate of fire could need fixing. I would say change the rate of fire to 500(a boost of 100 RPM for the weapon variation) and raising the clip size to 50 or 60(Spent a whole clip of 36 on a Sentinel but I effectively brought them down). Fixing these two things alone would definitely boost it's capabilities, I know that now.
Now I'm on to using the Advanced Gallente suit and Assault Breach Rifle.
2 High Slots with packed complex damage mods, 1 enhanced kinetic catalyzer, 1 enhanced armor rep, and 1 enhanced armor plate.
Pretty sweet. Takes only 5-7 for eHP between 300-400 when it's not a head shot. Headshots are nasty. I tried it both in mid-range and close quarters, and works well in both situation but obviously close quarters is where it really shines.
Thew the same fit on a Proto but with Complex Reps, an extra Damage mod, and Stamina mod. I kept my Enhance Armor because I felt that the armor would become too slow with Complex and the Ferroscale wouldn't fit(as usual for this style of fitting).
At this point it's beastly. With strafing and proper aim, I can take most down in no time or at least deplete. The second I'm nearing my clip's end or the enemy's almost dead, I pull out the SMG and finish them off.
I made this thread to show off my experience and experimenting with the Breach. I thought it was pretty sucky at first but after using it for a day, it's pretty viable in the right situations. A Scrambler Rifle can still destroy you(considering it's rate of fire and damage comparison) but that's easily deterred by strafing as if you're firing an ACR or SMG. You want to make sure every hit hurts because you only have so much in your clip, which brings me to my next topic, weaknesses and possible fixes.
The weaknesses of the Breach is it's clip size and the rate of fire. With only 36 in a clip and a need to kill multiple enemies in exoskeleton suits, you're likely to get caught in between reloads. 60 or even 50 would be much better. After a battle it gives you enough to spare in a clip to deal with surprises. The rate of fire needs a 100 RPM boost to make it more effective and what I would consider balance. It's not as fast as the core AR(the core AR has 750 while the Breach AR has 400).
Is it broken? In a way it is but it can work really well depending on the situation and the person behind the gun.
Is it a priority? Obviously, it's not a priority but in the future somewhere, hopefully around the same time Scouts and Heavies get buffed, we get an alteration in the Breach variation.

Your suggestions are good and I think help it stand out. I also think lowering the optimal or effective range may be needed if you increase the RoF, mag size and maybe even the dmg.
Yeah, exactly. And I forgot about the effective range. Should definitely be shorter than what it is now but not too limited.
