When you said "planetside yes, space side no" you must've meant "dominating" while I had thought you were talking about being "underdogs".
In that post of mine, I was saying that they used to be underdogs; an enslaved race or all that other fluff.
The "Now they're dominating" was another thought entirely. By that I mean that now since they're doing so well in Dust people notice that and are getting in on that stompage.
Like M.A.G. where SVER was the lowest on the totem pole, had duc-...grip tape on their guns, and used a "brothers and comrades" type thing and people were in. Then they just started dominating the game and people vetted over to 'em. It got to the point where there was always twice as many SVER than there were Valor or Raven. DUST 514 isn't at that point yet, I don't think, but Scotty being frightened to incompetence at the sight of all of the Matari is...unsettling. Valor was supposed to have that feel, SVER were supposed to be the punk rebel type guys, and Raven the high tec best of the best feel. I loved SVER simply because of the types of weapons they had, AK are my fav guns in any FPS, but Raven were by far the coolest in terms of aesthetics. I also remember that, but the SVER kids were garbage at that Hijacking mode, and Raven were the **** at it, always retaining the contract bonuses for it, while valor fought with SVER over sabotage.
I never got that feel from Valor. I got the "we're a traditional group with awesome experience/have fun while doing it" vibe from them. Seemed the closest to modern military...Muricas' anyway. I think they were NA based to. Or was it Alsaskan? Then there's the sleeveless thing. Ya know what? It was a long time ago; can't remember.
Valor and Raven were pretty bland compared to SVER. Valor and Raven got actual training courses, but your SVER newbie had to go through what was just recently a battleground. "Initiation. HUHUHUHUH!" It's just too badass compared to the others.
Yup. That's mostly how I remember those game modes. Valor had Sabo, Raven had Acquisition all the time, and SVER stomped in Dom. I can't remember when and for how long Valor was just the scrubbiest place to be. I think it might have been from some point up until I left.
I'm really hoping Dust doesn't run that route.
At worst i'm hoping it's like how the "OP" side changed in M.A.G. Raven and Valor had their time in the spotlight, hopefully these factions get themselves in gear and are able to make a change.

I'll take a stab at it.
Clan Hannari is a fairly wealthy family of the Sebiestor Tribe from Eram II. No member of the clan has ever been enslaved by the Amarr but they have a history of service to the Republic in fighting against them and any others that threaten the tribe.
A cousin of mine, Wolf, was the first capsuleer of the clan. He got his start working for a Gallentean that brought his asteroid mining company to a nearby system. Eventually, Wolf was asked to start the Outriders to provide security for mining operations. As mining shifted to planetary operations the Outriders were freed up for militia duty.
Even though my family is wealthy every member starts at the bottom to earn their way. I was offered a position as a starship mechanic with the Red Rock Mining Company maintaining barges. When the CEO, Rees Noturana, was asked by Mordu to help quietly find a candidate or two for the Legion's secret immortal soldier program I was asked if I was interested. I packed up my mechanic's equipment without hesitation and headed off. That suit was one of the first models that became the Logistics M-I that we use today.
I dream of the day that I can return to Eram II, in a body based on my original, so that I can ride a horse across the high plains once again.

Nice that was a really good lore savvy character Bio.
I would do more for the Valklear toon but I don't know enough about Minmatar space....I cannot even envision what their planets look like..... I always see Amarr planets as storm or desert planets.

It is taking that route, Gall and Min have had massive player bases for months now. I am now just waiting to get a PS4 so I can try BF4 and the division, but im also considering a gaming pc so I can get into all the other sci fi games coming out next year.

Plus I picked Minmatar because I liked the idea of playing someone with tribal ideas; something not like USA. Honestly it was between Caldari and Minmatar, but I choose Minmatar. Playing Gallente would've been too easy and being Amarr just wasn't my thing. Fair call, never considered it like that.
That's just my reasonings. Some might want it for the anti-slavery, some for whatever else I can't think of haha. Like I made my character someone who never had a family member enslaved or herself. She might know people who had family members that were enslaved, but at the end of the day she doesn't know crap but rumors and stories. In her teenage years she was just some fouled mouth, slick talking, "rebellious" an didn't care about anything but herbs, surfing and causing trouble. Signing up to be a merc kinda saved her life cause she was on a downward spiral in her early twenties. |

That's just the tip of the iceberg. I have back stories for all my pilots plus six years of recent events including interactions with various live events. I may not be extremely social but I still get involved in my own way. My focus is now on DUST but the pilots are still around doing their thing.
There are so many options for planetary environments you can just pick something. http://evemaps.dotlan.net is a great resource for picking a planet too. When all else fails just use Prator.

That's pretty much how True and Leithe are.
I have about 12 years lore for true, 5 for Leithe, and for this Valklear I'm going to need about 7, in game, to tell his story.

I always figured Minmatar space while Coricia at least was this kind of Avatar(the blue folks not the Airbender :P) paradise with beach areas. Mix of rain forest, beach and some desert areas. I think it was Starkmanir that lived in the desert I believe. (my lore is kinda rusty. I'm always trying to reread from time to time)

I fight for them (and Gallente) because they have stuff I actually want. I'm not slogging through Amarr for some Drop Uplinks that are only 10,000ISK and some reppers and plates I can get out of the Gallente.
Was thinking the same thing, heck the Minmatar even have the SEVER (SVER) BPO dropsuit :p |

I've said this elsewhere.
Both the Federation and Republic take care of their own. We're not cowards. We're not weak. We will fight until the enemy is dead. We recruit those that are able to be and teach them our ways, and they in turn do the same. I fight for the Federation and I will continue to do so until the end, even if we become cornered. I fight on the behalf of the Republic, so that the Minmitar will be free.
Long live the Federation!

Its because Assault Combat Rifle is the new EZ mode FOTM Crutch for skill less players. False SCR is still way more OP than the CR. HAHAHAHAH. SUUUUUUUUURE suuuuure.Thats why everybody is STILL USING them? LOL no. Only a scarce few. AHHA the SCR is atm the most UP of ALL rifles. The only thing op in this game is every fully automatic weapon ever. All advanced assault variants of the rifles (AR, ScR, CR, RR) average about 450 damage a second. Most fits run a tank of around 500. That's just a bit over a second of on target fire until you are dead.
If we really wanted a fast-paced arcade-esque FPS game we would have gotten CoD, because at least they have their **** semi-together. |
