The new CR and RR weapons are fun. Only problem is, they're backwards, as far as stability.
The Rail Rifle is supposed to be scaled down sniper rifle tech. it's supposed to be super-stable. It has to be, after all, if it's going to be effective at "longer-than-AR" medium range type distances. Yet it isnt. Even at level 4, it seems to have a right-left scatter effect, even when the player stands still. And it has no option to improve it. There's no skillup for accuracy for it.
In contrast, there's the "combat rifle". Which is supposed to be a high ROF type weapon, meant more for close range splatter, than supreme accuracy. Yet it has "sharpshooter" skill, and general skill increases that make it more, and more, accurate. At even medium skill levels, if you use aim-down-sights, it has almost scrambler-rifle accuracy. The only kick to it, seems to make it go straight "up", rather than much of a side-to-side wobble.
This makes no sense: it is completely backwards to the way it should be. Please fix this :(

While I agree with you somewhat.. there is the RR Op skill that reduces the kick of the weapon which is the real issue. I dont think the RR actually disperses too much. I would love to have another advanced skill to reduce kick another 5% per level in place of the sharpshooter skill. Call it "Rail Rifle Control/Stability" or something relating to controlling the hybrid charge process.... like "Man Hands". |

i agree with the first person the RR needs to be much more stable and less left and right and more up and down if its to be a good mid to long range weapon isn't it suppose to compare to scrambler rifle but fully auto? |

The CR is a SMG with a longer barrel and a stock. The already negligible recoil of the SMG (look closely at the CR. It's an smg with other modular attachments) is going to be lowered and it's going to be a precise gun. |

"kick", in a properly balanced weapon, is purely up/down, surely?
(after all, thats why SMG has SEPARATE "kick" vs "dispersion" skills")
So this is a problem.
in reference to Talos's mention about CR being a more precise SMG.. I have no problem with that; i'm not actually arguing for more dispersion for the CR. I'm primarily arguing that whatever dispersion the CR has, the RR should be LESS.
And if there is no "improve dispersion" skill, that sort of implies the thing should have "zero dispersion".
which it doesnt seem to, to me. It seems to have both kick, AND dispersion, which aint right. |

rr would be op as **** with more accuracy, and the dispersion on the CR is ridiculous outside of ads so yes it needs a ss skill |

feels pretty powerful to me, although this explains why boundless CR's cut me down so damn fast. CURSE YOU AIM ASSIST! BACK TO THE PIT FROM WHENCE YOU CAME! |

Make the RR more precise, tone down the damage slighty, like by 4-5 points.
Caldari are all about the accuracy. This rifle isn't functioning like Caldari tech should.

yup, that would make me happy
although "obviously" a smaller delta for the assault version :)

* Decrease RoF * Increase Damage * Decrease Clip Capacity * Little to no kick * Increase range a little more
The RR should have a little lower DPS than the other rifles but make up for with its ability to dominate at longer ranges. The low RoF would make it an incredibly risky weapon to use in CQC.
Edit: The assault can be the current RR (or perhaps stay the same, haven't gotten around to using it) A Tactical variant would have increased range, increased damage, be semi-auto, and also have the same charge style as the charge sniper rifle.

I still have limited experience with the RR, but so far it is not behaving as I expectedGǪ Precision was what I expected, and this is not coming across as a precise weapon. Though I need to skill it up a bit to be certain, I know the ScR has a bit of a curve and investment requirement to get it to perform in an ideal way (hip fire accuracy aside) so perhaps it will be the same with the RRGǪ just not sure it's worth the investment for me at this point.

My impression of both, I think it is just an issue of how CCP do the weapons - Hip Fire is just better than ADS so long as you place the weapon on target.
Once the weapon is on target you can pull the trigger and deal with the "kick" more easily than ADS where the sights jump a whole lot. Obviously the CR is made to handle like this but you can do it with the RR too and I think thats why some are QQing it. It can do well in closer if you quick scope.
Maybe kneeling helps alot but I hardly kneel when ADS so dont know. - I'll test that tonight but being spotted while kneeling is death, for sure when you are in a scout suit. |
