I've read a number of SF stories featuring immortal or near immortal soldiers and the battle philosophy gravitates to ignoring losses as long as progress is made to the main objective.
You really need to take that objective and the only way is to call an OB while a couple blues or a pile of your own equipment is on it? You go ahead and drop it!
The current mechanism allows a team to forgive the TKs, but not the damage done which has the effect of making everyone super cautious. That is diametrically opposed to the philosophy of "Win at any cost".
I get why the penalty is there for open matches (vs. PC). It's difficult to impossible to mechanically determine if the TK was for the greater good or not. Without some penalty mechanism we could have rampant blue on blue damage.
But does it make us too cautious? Does it remove something vital from the battle?

It's impossible to use OBs in FW if there are any blueberries ANYWHERE nearby. If the shot glances one, you're out.

We are investigating reports of the friendly fire kick not working as intended, particularly with respect to vehicle damage and remote explosives. Keep your eye on the known issues thread for updates on this.
If there is a problem with it then we should be able to push a patch out relatively quickly.

I notice I'm playing a bit too cautiously now. I'm not throwing grenades at all and I'm burst firing everything because too often a bluedot will decide to be a hero and run dead in front of me and my fire.

The TK count from orbitals needs to be completely removed as well. Again, it's nearly impossible to call in an OB without killing a random blueberry who isn't willing to communicate with you.

Also blueberries are stupid. In my last match I had OB support. We wanted to take a building and a tank was right next to it. All the blueberries were sniping or hiding. So I call in the ob. And as soon as I called it in I see these blueberries running right at that ******* tank with their assault rifles. Geez. That's a whole new level of stupid. Anyways. They got killed and I got kicked.
The only way you can use orbitals at the moment is when you want to take out a tank at the edge of the map with no blueberries near it. Either that or only using projectile orbitals. |

The new FF mechanic is over engineered. 24 hour ban is also pretty ridiculous. I would have loved to see a system similar to Ultima Online implemented:
- Remove the damage threshold, and keep the reporting system. - If you get reported enough, you become red to everyone (or yellow, idk) - while red, you lose the ability to spawn back in once killed. - Once you're out of match, make the ban 30 mins per team kill you made over the limit.
This allows people to actually have to deal with TKers on their own terms. More player control is a good thing. If the TKer is particularly good, it could be game changing, which is okay. This is a CCP game after all, isn't it? This is also less of a punishment for those who kill others on accident.
Also team queueing needs to come sooner than soonGäó, but CCP has already announced that they're working on it, so that's good. |

Well I got banned and I don't even know how I did it, lol.
This was what happen. Did fly my dropship ( no guns on it whatsoever ) to a point to hack and putt down uplinks at the start of the match. Landed the ship got INSTA killed buy a red already at the point. ( did not fire anything or used remotes or whatsoever)
Pissed of respaned at home grownd, called in a new dropship ( with no guns ) did fly strait back, to my suprice my old ship was still there ( but hacked red now ) I landed ( or rather crashed my ship into my old ship ) got out throwed grandees at the red that killed me before he jumped down and got away... Throwed a second grenade to kill the red uplink. Hacked my old ship back recalled it..... jumped back into my second ship.... BAMM GOT BANNED
This was during the first minute of the match ( give or take 30 sec )

Had a similarly confusing issue in FW. I was driving a tank while others on my team had 2-3 more active tanks around me. We had redlined the other team and was fighting their AV from their MCC area. The red AV caused evasive maneuvers by blue tanks and I was run into on my right side by a blue tank moving perpendicular to me. The tank flipped me onto my left side and I was insta-kicked for exceeding the damage threshold.
I agree with the OP. the kick needs to come from the team, it would deal with orbitals, tank shenanigans, and all other sorts of mess. I would not have kicked the player who rammed me.
The problem I have with all of this is that the bottom of my tank, which a blue flipped, caused 5000 damage to a blue, but no damage was recorded onto the tank which flipped me.
I would like my HARD EARNED 450 standing refunded once the bugs are out. That represents 12 games (75 standing, 6 wins, 12 games at 0.5 W/L ratio). Leaves a very bad impression for someone who has fought for this game. |

OBs are my best AV weapon now. It's almost too tough to use on objectives with blueberries anywhere on the field.
Let me clarify, we were running with a squad of some pretty sharp players but we weren't on coms with them...I dropped one OB and splashed 2 of them as we were pushing an objective ....ultimately we took the obj and and eventually won. To their credit they didn't punish me but I spent the rest of the fight uber cautious and not helping too much.
The fleet to ground team coms isn't working as advertised. We put the whole team (couple squads and fleet) in the JTF GalMil DD channel and that works but it's chaotic as hell. The issue is that the other 6 or 8 guys on the team can't make coms with us.
We've also had a couple near issues with two ground teams bringing in their own pilots and some minor beefing about who gets to hook up to drop the OB. Your pilot will drop for you and not the other guy so effectively the other pilot put his boat at risk and can't help his ground team.
Not sure of a good fix to this but it is getting sporty as more folks are pushing the limits...and this is a good thing. |
