Uh dude this is a "Game" what I actually believe outside of the "Game" is entirely different from what I preach in "Game" why bring outside meanings into the "Game" and attach labels.
He is right though, very few players know how to RP and RP well, fewer still are Gallente, slightly more are Matari, less Caldari, and by far the most are the Amarr.
That's because the greater Matari/Gallente players pick their class because of the word Freedom, with no prior knowledge of that races back ground history and lacking any real in game knowledge.....
Arkena, Jakar, Arc, Kagehoshi all examples of good Rpers breaking the mold.
XxBluedotxX "FREEEEDOM" bad example of intelligent Rper.

That would defeat the whole "Mercenary" style of the game. You are working for contracts and don't always care about who you fight for.

A good idea thats for sure but the issue with signing on for ONE faction on a corporation or even alliance wide basis in DUST is that we do not all use the same gear.....I may run primarily Minimatar tech but the guys I like to squad with run amarr for ScRs and assault suits,Caldari for gunnlogis & RR, and ...well...gallente for....yeah I dont know many G.K0s.
Regardless my point being that while it does seem like a good idea I do not believe it should be implemented in the near future if there are plans for it, simply because of how our gear changes patch to patch forcing people to put SP into new skills every month to suit their needs and/or playstyle.
However from an RP perspective I understand why you would want people to be required to stick with 1 faction but lets face it, this is not a MUD nor an RP forum so the RP is not forced on everyone who logs in, if someone has G.K0s and C.K0s they should be free to play for both factions in order to get them.

Doesn't matter. FW can be highly profitable to the point where it doesn't matter who you fight for since you can afford to buy whatever equipment you need.
E.G- Plenty of Amarr FWer EVE side fly Minmatar ships or Gallente ships, they sell their FW content when the market determined the Amarr **** is rare and make enough money to support themselves.
In a situation where the secondary market occurs there should be no reason not to fight in FW all for the same side.

In that situation yes I see how we could benefit from it BUT that still falls under "the near future"
as of 1.7 I don't see how a militia sign-up system would benefit us as mercs.
(EDIT: just wanted to throw this in here, as it stands I believe giving us the option to fight for every faction benefits the new players more than anything, seeing as it gives them the ability to try the modules, weapons, dropsuits, and vehicles without wasting sp to find out it doesn't suit their particular playstyle and/or needs.)

Minmatar and Gallente = "WOOOO FREEDOM!"
Caldari and Amarr = People who know how to RP or what RP even stands for. While I won't deny that some people pick the Minmatar/Gallente for the "WOOO FREEDOM!" ideal, it would be insulting to many who fight for the Minmatar & Gallente while also knowing vast amounts of information of lore and how to Role Play (RP)
And additionally, you also can't deny that most of the people who fight for the Amarr do so simply because "everyone's doing it" or "cuz it's cool". And then you have the ones who simply want to be a comic book villain with a long, Italian like mustache.
I fight for the Matari simpily because I believe in their ideals. I know and comprehend the Amarr ideals and I don't agree with them, hence why I fight for the Minmatar Republic.
I find the irony in your statement to be quite hilarious though. My sides are beginning to hurt now.

I fight for the Gallente not just because of their ideals but because I believe that when the Caldari razed Nouvelle Rouvenor, they were in the wrong. That's led to a bloody war, and one I hold them accountable for. You may want to take a closer look at your own government young gallente. They use their own people to further their own ends. Even if it means killing them, or killing caldari. Your corruption is why we wanted to leave your 'federation' your corruption is why we are fighting this war. |
