Minmatar and Gallente = "WOOOO FREEDOM!"
Caldari and Amarr = People who know how to RP or what RP even stands for.
lol apparently I fight for minimatar because I don't know how to RP?
Interesting....I was under the impression it was because I use minimatar suits...and guns....and armor plates...and armor repairs...yeah.....I see I should fight for the faction that gives me nothing I can use

Interesting....I was under the impression it was because I use minimatar suits...and guns....and armor plates...and armor repairs...yeah.....I see I should fight for the faction that gives me nothing I can use This game need to have miltia sign up system where players sign on to ONE faction at a time, you either sign on corporation, or solo, and can only fight for that faction as long as you are signed on, not being able to enter the other FW zones. If you wanna run Min do it, but don't expect to suddenly be able to switch from one zone to another at the drop of a hat.
A good idea thats for sure but the issue with signing on for ONE faction on a corporation or even alliance wide basis in DUST is that we do not all use the same gear.....I may run primarily Minimatar tech but the guys I like to squad with run amarr for ScRs and assault suits,Caldari for gunnlogis & RR, and ...well...gallente for....yeah I dont know many G.K0s.
Regardless my point being that while it does seem like a good idea I do not believe it should be implemented in the near future if there are plans for it, simply because of how our gear changes patch to patch forcing people to put SP into new skills every month to suit their needs and/or playstyle.
However from an RP perspective I understand why you would want people to be required to stick with 1 faction but lets face it, this is not a MUD nor an RP forum so the RP is not forced on everyone who logs in, if someone has G.K0s and C.K0s they should be free to play for both factions in order to get them.

Doesn't matter. FW can be highly profitable to the point where it doesn't matter who you fight for since you can afford to buy whatever equipment you need. E.G- Plenty of Amarr FWer EVE side fly Minmatar ships or Gallente ships, they sell their FW content when the market determined the Amarr **** is rare and make enough money to support themselves. In a situation where the secondary market occurs there should be no reason not to fight in FW all for the same side.
In that situation yes I see how we could benefit from it BUT that still falls under "the near future"
as of 1.7 I don't see how a militia sign-up system would benefit us as mercs.
(EDIT: just wanted to throw this in here, as it stands I believe giving us the option to fight for every faction benefits the new players more than anything, seeing as it gives them the ability to try the modules, weapons, dropsuits, and vehicles without wasting sp to find out it doesn't suit their particular playstyle and/or needs.)
