So I'm seeing a TON of knee jerk reactions on the forums today, especially a few whine threads.
Now dont get me wrong, I'm quick to bash CCP! However from what I have read I think CCP have done a good job.
I'm doing some painting and decorating at the moment but later on I am going to dust off that old PS3 and fire up DUST. I am hoping for good things in light of what I have been reading. So far every issue I think I would have personally seems to be ok.
Time will tell. I just want to say to CCP - Don't be disheartened by the whine babies. I KNOW you have a lot more that needs to be done and I KNOW there are areas you definitely need to improve on. However, the fact you have made tankers fairly happy is definitely a step in the right direction. I also hear the new weapons seems ok too and that's surprising in a good way.
So give it time, that goes for CCP and the players. I will probably make a feedback thread once I have had a chance to try this stuff out myself a little later on.

Yea, for me I am hoping this renews my interest in DUST. On my main character, I started back in closed beta. Played up until autum then I just got too annoyed with things and a seeming lack of progression. So I'm back to try 1.7 out and I actually think I will be pleasantly surprised. |

I have told myself I will wait til the 3rd week post patch release to QQ. With every patch there will be bugs, hotfixes, ninja nerfs, ninja buffs, etc...You can't get too invested this week that this is the way the game was intended. After two weeks post patch though, feel free to rage and QQ about all the balance and OP/UP guns, etc.
I'm holding out hope that this build will improve the game. From what I'm reading, it sounds like vehicles got what they wanted, and anything less than a specialist merc will require team/squad work to burn them down...Exactly how it should be.
The sticky RE's may be one of the biggest, widely overlooked additions in this patch. They will absolutely become much more relevant now. Mark my words, RE's will be everywhere in the coming weeks. I will leave LAV's in the open with an RE in the tailpipe, yeah go ahead and hack it ******, see what happens.
The assault rifles are still running this game with everything else being more of a "when the circumstances arise" type gun (MD, Laser).
At this point, I feel like 1.8 should bring a respec. Even if there are only a few racial variants to add in, I feel like if you've been around this game since 1.5 or later a total respec should be given for everyone. Roll everyone back one last time, then institute yearly AUR respecs: 1 = 25,000 Aur. Simply because I feel like the only reason I stuck with this game was for the 'potential', now that we are getting closer to the big picture, CCP throw us a bone. Most players that are left have weathered your storm of imbalance, SOONtm, and even kept this game afloat by pumping money in. I think as a gesture of THANKS, yes CCP be thankful you have players that put up with this, at times, "****" game; you should give us a FULL RESPEC.
Anyways, I'll be done with work @ 4est and then back to WAR!! Maybe tomorrow I'll get to do some FW! Matari pride! (add me to chat channels for Matari FW, AMARR must DIE! |

Don't get me wrong, this game still has a long way to go. Proto/Corp stomping will still be a game killer and poor game performance will still be a game killer.

I feel like the friendly fire in FW is taking a step backwards just because of the fact that if you damage yourself, you're kicked out of factional warfare.
If you accidentally damage your teammates (remote explosives, LAV's, splash damage of weaons, ect) you are kicked out of factional warfare.
I support the idea of friendly fire but the reigns need to be tightened a whole lot. (Sticky RE's is genius) |

Hm, no. I disagree.
I've played 3 FW battle's so far and the Team Killing does not seem to be a huge problem itself. There are kinks that need to be worked out like the things you have stated (except RE friendly fire, be mindful of where you put those) but that just requires number tweaking.
After 3 games i've had no problems with friendly fire. I was showing my roommate how awesome the combat rifle was, shooting it at empty space, then a blueberry walked right in front of my line of fire and died.

Yea my very brief first impression of 1.7 so far has been positive. Didn't expect that but we shall see what happens in the coming weeks. |

We are looking into reports of this not working as intended. Give it a few days for us to patch some things up.

Can you just give the person or persons who are team killed the option to kick that person from the match? Seems like that would solve the excessive friendly fire and not punish unintentional. |

if I was offering you a job I would look at your resume. Its the same with factional contracts. Low LP low combat effectiveness. I wouldn't hire mercenaries who accidentally kill their team. There should be a stat for team kills. If you are using REs in factional without letting everyone know there position you are not smart. If you crush mercs that I am paying for,with your vehicle I would demote you , worse, not hire you again. If you cannot keep a cool enough head to restrict your fire in tight quarters you would be of no use to me. This is how I RP. If I take it seriously I perform better. You realize you are paying to be there right? |
