...This is a subject of Dust 514 that I am very interested in following. For some or us it's been 7 months (for some nearly three years) with an FPS that's Friendly Fire DISABLED... That's a LONG time, and in a game like Dust 514 that is MORE TEAM-based and COOP-encouraging than any I've played, that equates to a LOT of damaging reflex-habit that has to be erased from our behavior on the battlefield.
It's not going to be easy.
And I'm not sure any amount of discrete blue-on-blue tracking from the devs is going to help us with this. WE have to help each other.
CHECK your fire!! Don't blame the stupid blueberry for crossing over your line of fire---because half the time he's not a stupid blueberry, he's the experienced vet who was leading your squad and owning the map last week (but that was when friendly fire was disabled, so he didn't have to THINK before he moved).
CHECK you movements!! Don't blame your buddy for squashing you with is LAV, or tearing open the back of your dropsuit, and don't be so eager to report him to the devs. The devs will take your word for it that it was ALL HIS mistake, when in reality YOU DIDN'T THINK before you moved. NOW, in FW, you have to think it out more (quickly before you're shot of course).
INCREASE buddy-communication! MIC is best (I know, it's "yuck" for a lot of us), or some kind of visual sign language to get your buddies to understand --"Grenade goin' in!" "Clear out--I'm calling down a Strike" or "Stay away from him so we can get a clear shot".
USE that "Forgive" button as much as possible. Hey, we've got to give each other a break for accidental friendly fire in the first two weeks or so---this is a new adjustment period for so many of us. Yes, I know she was a careless klutz in that last match, but if she's your team-buddy, cut her some slack and let the incident go. Otherwise you won't have much of a team left to finish the day with.
Steadyhand amarr's statement is correct. With the new FW, one of the toughest FPS games to deal with, has just gotten even tougher. Don't SPAM any weapons anymore.
This is really going to be interesting... |
