Specifically, the aerial redline timer. Apparently I had 7 seconds left when my dropship exploded on its own. I know for sure that my dropship exploded before the timer expired because it was still ticking when I was selecting a respawn point. The timer probably got 'stuck' onscreen even when I exited the redline briefly to reset it, and this is probably what lead to my demise. :(
I am almost 100% sure AV wasn't the cause either, as there was one swarm launcher in-game firing at me, I had 80-90%HP, hardeners cycling, and when I exploded it said I committed suicide and camera panned out from the dropship which did not plummet to the ground and explode, one of the biggest signs that it was a redline timer explosion.
Not sure how to fix the timers getting stuck and hiding the actual time, but whilst it is only a minor problem as people rarely make frequent incursions into the redline, it can greatly hinder some maneuvers if the timer is not showing correctly.

The redline timer seems to be ****** up from time to time, especially when you run in/out of it a lot.
Sometimes the timer keeps running after you left the redline zone. Sometimes the timer is flickering (It's like 2 timers are running at the same time). Sometimes the timer indicates the wrong time. (which probably happened to you).
Maybe it's latency related or just a bug, no idea. |

I concur with BOTH your observations. The "timer" is definitely not an accurate clock.
I often run the rim of the map to distract the reds into firing on me or to test a fitting. I can cross deliberately into their red zone, but while the MAP shows I've safely crossed back out, I still have a timer on my HUD telling me I only have 9 seconds left to get out of the their red zone, 8 seconds, 7 seconds.
Sometimes I have to fly DEEP into free airspace and 1/3 of the way back home before the timer clears off the screen---it's unnerving.
Vysion, if you have not already done so, you should put this in the GLITCHES department, not the Feedback department, because it really is a programming error and needs to be picked up by the fix staff.
It MAY have something to do with the animated EDGE of the red area on your HUD, not being the same as where the GAME thinks the red area edge is. (My map shows Walnut street ends HERE, but GOOGLE-atlas shows Walnut street ends 15 feet to the LEFT) |
