Whether you've been through a patch day before or not, tomorrow will be a unique experience. Without fail, they always are. If you haven't played EVE, or any other MMO, you're probably accustomed to downloading a FPS update and and going about your merry murder.
That's probably not going to happen tomorrow. It's not that CCP is bad at deploying patches GÇö this is just the nature of MMO's. Things go wrong. We can hope nothing does, but one or more of the following are likely to happen:
- Expect server downtime to run longer than scheduled.
- Expect higher than average server load.
- Expect the servers to crash.
- Expect new features to break.
- Expect old features to break.
- Expect a lot of lag.
- Expect new bugs.
- Expect to be frustrated.
In EVE it's common for players to say "Never undock [your ship] on patch day!" Playing World of Warcraft and Ultima Online, restarts and server rollbacks were common. I've seen entire days of progress simply erased by the necessity to return to previous backups GÇö after nearly a week of servers being down.
Things will probably go wrong tomorrow. The Dev's will be under a lot of stress, and probably putting in some overtime GÇö assuming everything goes perfectly. Let's try to be kind to them for the next few days while the community puts in more played time per hour than CCP can put into testing in a whole year.
We're going to break **** in ways they could never dream of. Some poor Dev will wind up sleeping under their desk. It will be glorious. |

We will most likely have some patch day woes, and I will be there for every second of it. goin to bed early boys and girls, that X button will be spammed starting 03:00 pacific
