I was thinkin of postin this too. My first thought was: If a 4 person development team could do this why the hell cant CCP. THIS is what Dust shouldve always been honestly. Hell that scene with the ships in space going into lightspeed or whatever towards a new destination almost reminded me of EVE. Its a sad shame that stuff like this is not playable right now in Dust -_- |

New Eden is supoose to be about exploration. We should be able to GO TO planets and fight for them. Sure this isnt the best looking game but it was created by a 4 man team!! ... Its insane to think that a simple exploration mmo is being crested by a team that tiny with so little resources. Hell not even EVE lets you actually land on planets and explore them. |

Remove the spaceships, keep it EVE side. But **** I would love to fight in a procedurally generated map.
Sure maps would be mostly unbalanced, but that's the beauty of it, sometimes they would have the advantage, sometimes you. And if they have the advantage, time to look around for ways to make that advantage yours.
Worst case scenario, bring an orbital down.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

Well, I guess maybe Valkyrie players to, but we don't even know if that'll be a sandbox game or even if it'll be on PC or console.
And before anyone says we know it'll be PC, the one journalist who mentioned it being a PC release was quickly corrected by David Reid who said they have no solid plans for PC, and that it would "probably run great on a console, for instance".

FPS games and procedurally generated maps don't really go together all that well.
Also, imho having a freeroam / exploration mode in Dust sounds like a snore fest - even with drones, there would a whole lot of map with not a lot to do in it. |

Who cares if everything isn't always perfectly balanced, you combine a procedural system with the full context of EVE's star map and you get the first war game that really feels like you are fighting in a real universe.

So when CCP a map that's unbalanced GD is filled with rage posts - but if CCP creates a system that creates the unbalanced maps for them it's suddenly great?
EDIT: Don't get me wrong, if there was a way to make procedurally generated maps work well most of the time I'd be all for it. I just don't think that it's really all that possible. (Maybe if we hooked up LogicLoop's brain into TQ somehow...) |

yea this is a demo, and made for PC, and you can garuenty that once they get the funding they need they will scale up that team big time.

One of the main reasons I even got into DUST in the first place was the promise of proceduraly generated maps. I was always intrigued by the thought that surveying the land for tactical advantages would actually be an extremely important skill later on in the games life.
Now, not so much.
