I'm generally crap at this game .... I admit it. But there's one thing I don't get about this and perhaps any other FPS.
Some matches, you go in - you find a sweet spot and every encounter / every one on one - you come out looking good. More importantly, when you die, you know that you deserved it.
Then there are other matches where you go in - you spawn in to the middle of a bombardment / can't seem to get a bead on anyone and die every 5 seconds and always fail the one on one encounters.
I can't figure it out. Is it familiarity with the map? Is it good team mates? Is it latency?
If you find yourself bombing out of a match, what are your tactics to get a straight edge again?

It's an incredible variety of factors; are you facing 1 or more squads?, are they in better gear than you?, if they seem equal they might have higher core skills, etc.
As far as solutions; level up core skills, have at least 2 "styles" of play i.e. Heavy doesn't work, how about something stealthier, and of course best tip...teamwork, find a squad and stick together, play to each others strengths and watch each others backs.
Of course sometimes you get your butt stomped no matter what...
Not new, just new to you.

So basically your question is, why do I win some matches and why do I loose other lol.
Isn't the answer obvious there.

For the most part, this experience will be unavoidable. However, it can be greatly minimized.
The answer really is teamwork. Being familiar with the map is always going to help. A lot of these repeat maps, good teams know the many different entrances to flank others. With a lot of people running scanners now, not being in a team usually means you're caught alone. When you're up against proto teams, they love seeing your single dot and will seek to kill you out before encountering several reds. Avoid being the easy target, always get into a squad. Use squad finder, or if you don't find a squad that really clicks, jump into the most full team you can at the start of the match. If you run well with that team, stick around with them for a while. You might even get a corp recruit out of it.
I'm sorry, but you've ruined the emperor's groove.

Generally, if you are getting stomped, stay behind the redline! Figure out what's being held by the enemy. if it's all objectives and the others on your team are pushing out from your ground spawns, don't bother! Stay back behind the fodder.
If it's ambush, Spawn a free starter fit! Then proceed to take the beat down.

I always seem to so better when squaded with good players, even strangely enough when the rest of my squad are on the other side of the map. Maybe it is just that I up my game when most of the squad are better than me. Of course when you are with your squad you have a lot more margin for error as your squad backs you up and covers you. |

I donGÇÖt do this. I feel obligated to prevent the apposing team from getting bored. Besides, I am too stubborn to give up. |
