Ive got fragmented missles and a logi dropship tanked well but no one enters...... I keep getting 50k for flying a dropship each match even when i drop/kill/assist people...... There was that one time my gunners actually killed 7 people but i still got paid no more then 100k
Flying derpships and scout shotgunning 24/7 quite fun i must say

Because its harder for the blueberries to shoot the MCC from a Dropship than it is a HAV.
Consider yourself lucky, trust me, you do not want these players in your DS.

lol @ you asking for players to hop in your dropship.
So basically you want blueberries to just give away your position by firing at any and everything they see. |

Get a squad, they will appreciate you.
Madness is the emergency exit. You can just step outside, and close the door on all those dreadful things that happened.

Wait until swarms can't lock on past the end of your ****. People will be using dropships more regularly. In fact I can see tons of blueberries hiding in them instead of the redline. They'll at least get a change of scenery from the sky.
Remove time in battle from ISK payout formula and provide a bonus to winning team... Watch battles become fun again.

Because dropships are paper-thin with even the best builds, and if someone doesn't know you personally they will assume you haven't spent the 10 million SP necessary to get to just terrible levels, rather than the standard "who the hell would actually put this piece of junk in the air?"
Add to that the fact that the small turrets on a dropship are trash, have crap DPS (worse than infantry weapons), and glitch around all over the place, and no one is going to get into your dropship.
As far as SP is concerned, CCP is just bad at game design. I've had games where my gunners have gotten 50+ kills, and I still could have easily gotten more SP by not flying and just getting 5-10 kills myself. |

I'd love to get into dropships so I can get to good sniper perches.
The problem is that the dropships usually take off so fast I can't get in. Do I smell bad or something? Maybe I should take a shower once in a while.
Then there's the "fly around for a bit then suddenly burning like gasoline soaked rags and hitting the ground at warp seven" thing.

P.S. BUT if I see you in-game I'll definitely take you up on your offer. You sound like you actually care about using your dropship properly and want to be a team player.

I actually enjoy a good drop ship ride, however it's faster to get to points in a LAV.. Which in turn allows me to deny the enemy dropships.

It's kind of funny, that the dropship as a vehicle has garnished the most and loudest "protests and complaints about quality" from budding operators, and by now has ended up with what a few of us players feared most... the least TRUST.
( and, well,... maybe our loud protests and all that really rude feedback we used to give kind of made us deserving of this fate)
From a foot merc's POV,
They've seen dropships getting shot down be the truckloads, seemingly 40 seconds or less after they take flight--and have no idea WHAT caused the kill--they can only conclude the ships have a high, quick rate of loss. They have no means to communicate (especially to hear) what the dropship pilot has on her mind, or what her objectives are (are you a taxi today, Celesta? Or building a squad for null cannon capture, or just want a good gunner to stay on board with you, Celesta?) The game doesn't even grant them head-panning control once they board the DS, so they feel like scared convicts on a prison bus.
From the DS operator's POV, There's a ton of us dropship operators who DON'T want passengers, or want passengers for SPECIFIC purposes only, but don't make an effort to MIC up, be a squad-leader, or similar ways to communicate to foot mercs and help make them less leery about whether to try boarding your DS (I congratulate that SOME dropship pilots DO use MIC/squading/etc. but not enough of them, and the DS is a vehicle that really NEEDS help through communication. I suspect that most of us haven't decided to commit to transporting people the way you seem to have, , and we let the foot mercs see us flying off on vehicle-chasing agendas or see us dusting off before they could climb aboard--and they wonder if we left them deliberately (sometimes in prejudice, we do...) Way too many of us are still looking for enemy weapons to be nerfed for us, without realizing it takes MODULES/Skill bonuses crunching and thoughtful piloting to generate a consistent survival record for your DS (especially on these tiny AV-happy maps--Holy crap, whoa!) Whether we want to admit it, we've grabbed so fast and smashed our own dropships so many times when we were rookies--we just didn't take the sensible course and TRAIN a LONG TIME first, do the math to develop the modules/skill bonuses these vehicle NEED, accept no passengers during practice because we'll only get them killed until we are honestly good controllers (not just bragging that we're good), and BUILD a safe reputation for ourselves and the vehicle.
...But, the blame game is always a dumb game to play, so. What some of us feared the most has happened, and now "The DS pilot" has a reputation as an unreliable and unnecessary risk to ride with (why lose my 60K dropsuit+clone life, when I doubt you can even get me to a roof without effectively avoiding fire). Once a reputation is on you, you know it's going to take eons of hard work and showmanship to change players' perception of us "pilots".
If anyone's got some ideas how to do that, I'll give you a kiss (...um, from my lovable neighbor's Corgy!)
