The SMG is a full auto weapon. So why does it have both a Standard variant, an Assault variant, and a Breach variant? Shouldn't the Standard be either Breach or Assault because those are the two full auto variants? It's minor as hell I know, but it's been eating at me for months now. It's not like we have an Assault Assault Rifle or a Tactical Scrambler Rifle, that's just what the weapon IS... or does that naming scheme only apply to rifles?

I see what you're getting at, but it's different for sidearms. The assault Scrambler Pistol is better than the Scrambler pistol, and the Assault SMG is better than the normal SMG.

The HMG has it too, but there aren't enough Heavy weapons for me to draw comparison. I always assumed the Forge and Pistol Standard variants were both Tactical because of the single shot fire pattern.
Wait, there isn't a Breach HMG is there? ... but I find it hard to believe the HMG is Breach... but it makes abit of sense 0_o.

What I cant stand is there is very little to no difference the Advance and the Proto level. Unfortunately that is the way it is with most weapons

I wish there wasn't Adbanced or Proto anything myself. Feels stupid to my EVE-based mind where there are just variants, but I suppose it is too ingrained in DUST to be done away with now :c

Why even have a standard when the assault and breach are so much better? Unless the assault is a placeholder for the Magsec, there's no real point.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

Its because the CPU and PG cost. Look at the cost of the Assault SMG compared to the breach and the normal kind.
Thesaid part is the SMG you can aim and do ALOT of more DPS then the HMG in CQC.
Yes the HMG has higher potential DPS but the fact it works like a laser and doesn't spray like it should effects the HMG big time. When you can hip fire better with a SMG -_- sad life
Heavys only have 2 heavy guns. Please dont turn the NERF bat on them. Give heavys more suits or guns please :D

The 'assault' is the 'prefix' for the gallente influenced weapons.
The 'breach' is the 'prefix' for the caldari influenced weapons (I think).
The 'burst' is the 'prefix' for the minmatar influenced weapons.
I think tactical or charge is for amarr influenced ones?
