With TTK as it is, the type of weapon damage you do doesn't matter. You will be able to kill any suit regardless of armor/shield setup with a Gallente AR within 0.5~1.0 seconds of you being able to kill them with any other rifle, so damage types are a moot point right now. Saying that the shield recharge delay issues are counter balanced by new weapons strong against armor is ignoring this fact. The only real deciding factors right now with TTK this low and AA everywhere is who has the higher tiered gun, who has the most damage mods, and who shoots first.
Want to see the real effect of damage resistances? When 1.7 hits, take a buddy who has fully specced into armor and shields out into a field and shoot him while recording. Prefferably an Amarr since they are the best dual tanks (and because nothing makes the universe more wholesome than cleansing it of imperialist Amarrian filth). Max out all his slots, highs with complex extenders and lows with plates. Stand about 10m out and shoot him straight in the abdomen. Kill him once with a AScR and once with a ACR (show that you have the same skills specced into each before going in), and compare the TTK difference.
The only new content we need is fixed TTK for all suits and a fixed HMG for the heavies. Once that's done, THEN maybe we'll see damage types actually mean something and perhaps start to see some REAL balance come to Dust. And THEN maybe shields will be able to afford this nerf hitting them in 1.7. Until then, thanks a lot for ruining the only decent shield suit in the game and crippling an entire line of already broken racial suits.

I agree completely, the type of hp or weapon damage dont mean sht, not with ttk so low. They might as well make us all use either plates or extenders, and make all guns do damage to the hp, with no specific different types of dmg or hp available.
And hopefully they fix this ttk problem soon, instead of making us wait months for weapon dmg type or dropsuit hp type to actually matter, which was one of the coolest things this game offered ( the customization ). As of now a lot of the things that really made this game so unique and fun, basically does not matter or is useless, like the dmg/hp type, ability to track targets, and even certain dropsuits.
When your playing dust and your frustrated...if all else fails...turn off the ps3. Works every time.

There are going to be no Minmatar and very few Caldari suits left in the game due to either respecialization or straight up leaving Dust if this goes on for too long. I really hope it's at least addressed soon, because if people don't think CCP is on it in a hurry, that player count is gonna start dropping in chunks and globs.

My NT511 failed to kill. I shot once, couldn't fire again because I died before I could get the second shot. I died to a duvolle in a starter fit. Goes to show TTK and how the SR is worthless and can't compete! That encounter got me mad. A high damage SR fails. |

No player should ever have that huge of an advantage over another.
All it does is make bad players appear good, even if they don't shoot first the numbers are usually in their favour.
PRO SCR with prof V and damage mods VS militia AR and miltiia dropsuit is a mathematical disaster.
I pray for the day when the gun-play in DUST is balanced.

Minmatar have and always will get the shaft I'm afraid. I play them in Both EVE and DUST 514. CCP wont even give us Duct tape or Rust to help us out.
I still ask myself why, why Do I LOVE the Minmatar so. But I do. |

Then when they see we may be making some progress climbing out of the hole they dropped us in through strategy and teamwork, they drop out the floor so we fall through the floor of that hole some more.

What you propose will just make people start brick tanking even more while also removing diversity too. I agree prof skill should be removed or replaced (I'd rather it be replaced) but removing damage mods will hurt alpha damage weapons such as a sniper rifle, (Which really having more hp on a sniper fit really isn't very helpful in my opinion.) swarm launcher (Which is probably one of the most damage mod dependent weapon since it's supposed to go against vehicles), forge guns, plasma cannons, and a couple others too more then any other weapons. The only way the removal of damage mods will help is for reducing TTK for rifle users while hurting a lot of other users more then the rifle users. It will also make infantry based AV useless since any good infantry AV unit stacks damage mods to be effective. Really the rifles need balanced. No need to remove damage mods when we have had them for over a year without a problem.
Also damage mods have heavy drawbacks such as the most CPU AND PG usage for a module, useless to stack anymore then 3 (Unless you want to waste a mod slot), and all of them except for complex ones are pretty much useless. |
