Ok so i know there has been a million and two threads about this, but I just want to point out that a lot of other QQ threads (scouts, AA, dual tanking, OP weapons, etc.) are all a function of low TTK.
To start, just reduce damage of all current weapons by some percent (some claim 10%). Then let the players respond to the new TTK. Shouldn't that be kinda easy?
Increasing TTK will almost instantly bring back diversity in player fittings, especially in modules and make speed actually useful again.
Caldari assualt = 4*Shield Extender + 3*Armor Plates WHOOOHHOOOO
Why even have other dropsuit modules? |

Totally agree.
Tried all sorts of fittings and still the best ones are brick tanking :(
Had some fun with dampening mods but in the long run they dont pay off since you loose way too much EHP to be competitve.

Since the fix of the hit detection some builds ago, a lot of us have been calling for the removal of the damage increase that was given to all weapons at Uprising. It's one of the last things standing in our way at the moment.

The TTK issue is beyond damage. A damage reduction across the board as a fix would be like putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound.
I believe the issue with TTK stems from the hit detection "fix" and an adjustment made to damage application (perhaps aim assist?). There is something weird going on. You do not have to actually aim on target to deal damage (or so it seems in high intensity situations). It's like the game says, "Eh, close enough", then gives you hit markers.
In regards to damage application, I don't know if this is related to aim assist or not, but I believe a good chunk of dispersion is being negated (or completely eliminated) for hip fire. I've noticed since this new build, that my own damage feedback (the chinking shields and thudding armor when taking damage) communicates that i'm eating bullets at a faster rate than in previous builds. And I highly doubt every starter suit became Super 1337 MLG PRO SWAG overnight.
The way to fix the current TTK is to improve the netcode, ensure that weapon dispersion is working correctly and make sure there are no weird hit detection bugs (like getting hit markers on an enemy that is 10 away from where i'm aiming. |

I am still prodding, I think CCP Wolfman wants to see what 1.7 does before he swings. I hate waiting as much as anyone else but I will not stop poking until its corrected.

On that point I believe it is the 'shields' you are hitting..but I think the damage rolls over to armor say you have 30 shields left dodge the corner but the nick your shields ,since its like a small bubble around you, and get say 100 damage dealt on you your gonna feel the whole 100 from it hitting the shields even though it didnt touch your armor but it hit the shield so it rolls over to armor.....just my speculation however so I can be completely wrong. |

Agree with the OP and happy to hear that CCP is looking into it.
TTK (this thread) and framerate issues in PC (another issue entirely) are my two biggest annoyances in this otherwise fabulously fun and addictive game -- now that they apparently fixed the mouse sensitivity issues between ADS and hipfire. |

Actually since TTK has been shortened I made the decision that brick tanking is not worth it anymore for me.
I figured that if the enemy can see me before I can see him I'm as good as dead anyway so I made some fundamental changes to my fittings.
- I switched my shield extenders for damage mods.
- Armor plates are replaced by dampeners.
- Switched from MKB+GLU-TAR to DS3+auto-aim+GEK-AR
- And I now tend to stick closer to cover and don't even bother trying to capture an objective if it is not at least 95% save.
I'm doing quite well, though I don't know if it is because of the new fitting or because I switched to DS3+auto-aim. Seriously, aiming is so **** easy with the DS3 now.

I am willing to buy that wolfman is waiting to see how guns behave as we are getting two new ones which is flawed logic imo but oh well.
However its more than likely the new EA guy in encourging twich gameplay becase thats what popular screw the loyal player base their not enough of them to cater too. And the lack of conments is the trick of wait for players to get board and move onto somthing else. Or what i like to call. "internet short term memory damage"

I don't like the low TTK but understand Wolfman wanting to wait. Hell, I'd want to wait for the FULL racial weapon lineup to be out before seriously attacking balancing.
The way I look at it, lowering TTK(perhaps differentially) now would just be a temporary quality-of-life improvement for the peeps, old and new, playing now. The last thing i remember hearing from CCP on the subject was that they did want DUST to be a strafy tracking shooter.
Also, i think Protocake Jr. has a point - can't find it now but i'm sure i've seen a video where you can see damage being applied, i think from a scrambler rifle, when the point of aim is definitely off-target. The shooter fires off-target at mid-range, definitely misses by maybe 20-30 cm. and damage is then applied to the target.
Now i realize damage could be coming form other sources or damage could be lagging, but the issue is definitely worth paying attention to. I'm using the filthy ammarian SR on an alt it seems uncannily easy to land shots on target. Kinda makes sense sine the ammarians have become so corrupt and so soft they need all the help they can get.
But i digress.

There was no magical 10% damage increase that happened.
Weaponry skill gave 2% damage to all weapons per skill. It was a skill everyone happily got.
CCP took weaponry and made it a useless skill sink skill where level 2 and 4 literally do nothing but waste skill points as the first skill a new player is FORCED to get.
Everyone ALWAYS had 10% damage buff in DUST, and Uprising launch everyone got a lot more active HP by a lot compared to beta suit's.
That 10% buff has nothing to do with anything. |
