I'm getting 1.6mil sp from my vehicle respec and am planning to use it to get proto heavy frame and proto HMG, even those the forum consensus seems to be that heavies suck.
I've been playing around with a standard templar fit with standard HMG. It is not as good as my Amarr Assault fit, but i feel it has it's uses and i have been having fun with it.

HMG heavies suck, generally.
But every so often, the situation arises where the HMG heavy is viable and, more importantly, fun. Plus, CCP may get around to fixing things for the HMG and heavy class.
So no, you are not crazy. Just weird, for speccing into a currently gimped class. |

I think the issue is staleness, medium frames can a lot more with more leeway to remake themselves into almost any lite version of any role they want. The other frames do not have this luxury, not only that, the other frames are not as largely successful in their niche roles over medium frames to begin with.
I am starting to understand the pessimism of the scout community because, they do not scale well at all, in fact proto scouts do almost no better than bpo scouts. (fortunately for me I have not wasted the sp in suits)
The point I"m bringing up with niche suits is that progression is in itself a falsehood, it has a very low glass ceiling. So for those that chose that road initially are most likely very burnt out.

If its fun for you,then its not crazy. but you must know you are spending SP in something taht is NOT competitive.

If its fun for you then go for it. forget the naysayers.
I've said this on every game I've ever played. If you love a particular weapon you will find the way it works best. and when you do make it work its so much fun. ok when it doesn't its enormously frustrating, but that means your emotionally engaged and thats important.
Thats why I've refused to spec into AR heavily. Yes its effective but its not fun.
Hand me the explosives every time
