I've been seeing alot of hate for logis and as one im not liking the solutions. I am considered a true logi. Forsaking the damage boosters i carry a proto rep tool as well as proto ninite and a proto nano hive. I've been hearing lets cut their pg/cpu and let me tell you I barley have enough with boosters (cpu/pg) to hold advance weapons with that gear. I'm an amarr logi with only 2 armor mods so I can have my equipment to save my team. The way to truly stop all the "fake" logis is to make it so equipment is a required slot on the logistics suit. Another thing is to make it so pg/cpu for equipment is separate for equipment and modules. I can barley keep my team alive with what i can carry so please speak to a true logi with a bad KDR (.75) who tries to put his squad before himself before you nerf us to kingdom come. |

True logi here as well. I don't always carry a repper, but I'm always using my equipment to better the team. One of the biggest problems is how class roles are designed. They're either too defined (heavy) too ambiguous (assault and scout) or lack incentive. (logistics)
In our case, there's little to the risk/reward ratio for support actions vs killing. Keeping in mind that this is an FPS and we're all supposed to be able to kill, there's not enough to warrant support or simply using equipment, especially at higher tiers. WP/m gains for support actions should scale up based on equipment meta level for all equipment, but with a lower rate or ceiling for basic and its highest at prototype. This way using higher tier (and significantly expensive) equipment will be more rewarding than ramping up +50 WP per kill. Other classes need to be looked at as well in regards to their roles, and bonuses to reflect it, keeping racial battle philosophies in mind all while leaving it open to player interpretation.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

I definitely agree with you on this Cosgar. If I use a Militia repair tool vs a proto repair tool, I get rewarded more for using the militia one (or level 1) just because it doesn't rep as much per cycle. On the other hand the guy I'm repping may not be around very long if I only use a Meta 1 rep tool because he just won't survive but that's beside the point. If he gets to cover the meta 1 rep tool will pay off more than the proto.
This is more like punishing people for using good gear, not exactly smart in terms of a fair isk vs risk scenario either considering the lower meta using people risk less isk and are rewarded with more isk if they perform well for whatever reason. This isn't just true for Logis but also for all classes of merc. There is no reward scaling and enticement to use better gear other than usability and effectiveness. Honestly it makes no sense to me.

Equipment in general needs a rework with some of the stuff you get at prototype available at lower tiers with different effectiveness:
Nanohives -Standard = 1 ammo hive, 1 triage hive, 1 hybrid, 1 compact. Capacity 2, active 2. -Advanced = 1 ammo, 1 triage, 1 hybrid, 1 gauged. Capacity 3, active 3. (more nanites, higher rate) -Prototype = 1 ammo, 1 triage, 1 hybrid, 1 gauged. Capacity 4, active, 4. (more nanites, higher rate)
Reppers -Standard = 1 triage, 1 vehicle, 1 flux -Advanced = 1 triage, 1 vehicle, 1 flux, 1 focused. Dual beams (except for focused) -Prototype= 1 triage, 1 vehicle, 1 flux, 1 focused. Triple beams (except for focused)
Also, Ghazbaran had a topic on an equipment proficiency skill tree. Can't seem to find it right now, but it's worth a read. I'll like it if I eventually do find it. (been looking for the past 20 minutes)

All WP accrual methods need to be re-examined. As well as racial bonus, and DPS/ TTK
No you kill this blueberry hacking the CRU we are camping. I already killed the last 2.
