I don't see an issue with letting new players have an unlimited cap to 6 million plus or minus 2.
What would you guys think about that?
I consider it a good way to hook the player into grinding out decent gear and getting him to be competitive in a month or 2.
There's a hundred different ways to go about improving the new player experience.
Everyone would agree a PVC mode would be the best route but if you have better ideas I'd like to see them.

I agree with you though as this would help new guys to catch up a bit and PVE would be a nice change from the constant grind fest.

I believe the cap should be based on when the game launched out of beta, when everything was reset. The cap would increase every week after reset. One could grind away so they could have a chance to catch up to the no-lifers. Seeing that I have a job and a life, there is no way I could ever catch up to the players that have capped every reset. But, I should be able to have my weekly cap raised so when I do have time to kill, i can go beyond the weekly cap and tap into the missed SP.
In other words, the cap needs to be an SP pool that is based on the potential SP that one could acquire since game launch. One can draw upon this pool until they reach the pool limit, which is raised every week. |

Personally I think there shouldn't be a cap anymore because the purpose it served at first is pointless now. Though since it's likely the cap is here to stay then I agree that there shouldn't be a cap for players under a certain SP threshold. However 6-8 million is too low in my opinion. Hell it takes around 8 mil just to max out essential dropsuit upgrades alone; which in my opinion one cannot be competitive without. Then it's around another 3 mil to get a proto role specific medium suit and a proto weapon (just to get the weapon itself. no sharpshooter or proficiency).
With a little over 11 mil spent they'd be able to put up a fight but I wouldn't call it competitive. It's hard to compete against someone with a weapon with a tighter grouping of shots and can do roughly 36% more damage than yours (2 complex damage mods & lvl 5 prof); allowing them to kill you at a range that your weapon only tickles them at.
So at the very least I believe players under 12 million SP should have no cap.
Never mind the president, let's overgrow the government.
