So I think it was in DUST 514 that I first heard the name "Outer Heaven". If I recall they were (possibly still are) a corp in this game. I thought the name sounded cool but later thought nothing of it.
Fast forwards to the past few weeks... I have been playing Metal Gear Solid. (The great one on PS1 however not the first part of the MGS storyline) It turns out that Outer Heaven, is some kind of unit / army nation that is created by Big Boss. (The father to Solid Snake) Outer Heaven is basically the best of the best from US special forces units, Russian Spetsnaz and all sorts of others.
The story line goes a LOT further, including all of the games released, Metal Gear, Nuclear War etc.. and I'm now just finding out about it, possibly one of the best story-lines (If a little convoluted at times) that I have ever read.
I was curious if this was where the Outer Heaven corp. in Dust got there name from and if so - How are they doing in DUST right now?
I'm off to continue to learn the whole storyline of MGS as this stuff is amazing. |

There are other corps with MGS based names, like Foxhound. It is one of the most influential games among the Dust playerbase, along with Eve, MAG, and Battlefield. |

Outer Haven is actually a Soverign State for a short Time, in PeaceWalker on PSP I believe you actually end up setting it up. after Solid Snake is cloned he is sent to take out the metal gear being built in Outer Haven.
Consequently when Liquid Ocelot, steals the Rail Gun from Metal Gear Rex it's mounted to a Ship marked "Outer Haven", as Liquid Ocelot wishes to rebuild Big Bosses Dream.
The story line for MGS has always been good. Unfortunatly this required over 30 hours of cutscenes in MGS4 alone, just to wrap everything up.

Wow thanks for the extra information guys. I have just about wrapped it all up now after using wiki and sourcing more info out of the games and videos on youtube.
Its great to see it has influenced a lot of people. Its also cool to see those names, REX, RAY etc...
Its good to hear the corp is still going strong too.
Seriously - A film needs to be made about it. A flim needs to be made about EVE`s storyline also. Both have great cannon and truly deserve the time and effort it would take to be brought to the big screen.
Is it me or are the stories presented in computer games, more imaginative and more in depth than most films released these days? |

That was the last Metal Gear I played. Totally worth the sick days I had to take. Even the first one on NES was epic compared to the others in the genre at that time and for some time later. I could probably dig it up now, but even just the thought of the oversized Lego block controller makes the space between my pointer and middle knuckles ache.

Hideo Kajima was approached to make a movie about MGS, but he turned it down. Quite rightly to, it was going to be directed by Uwe Ball, who is well known for butchering Good Games into Bad Movies.
Uwe had wanted to Cast Hugh Jackman as Snake for crying out loud.
Also you may be interested to know, based on the events in MGS3, the Metal Gear Project almost never happened.

The Rex and Rei are total coincidences I just had a moment of realization when I read your post.
0uter.Heaven have little to no correlation to MGS and frankly our CEO has never even played one of their games... He just thought the name was cool...
But its alright though, the reference is greatly accepted

Really there should be an Alliance called Outer Haven, while it's constituent Corps will be things like FoxHound, Shadow Moses and it should all be run by a Corp Called Arsenal Gear, with "The Boss" as the Leader and "Big Boss" as 2IC

By the way Emulators make old games better :) Its funny though as the rendered graphics look improved but the menus and CGI are still very basic and blocky...

Even though it wasn't it's own nation like in the first Metal Gear game, Big Boss's goal was reached in that soldiers had a secure purpose in the world where they are free to hold their place on the battlefield. The last base you fought on was Liquid's flag ship which was also named Outer Heaven of course.

<.< Last I heard us Foxhounds were already on good terms with 0.H. due to ringing for them and you guys ringing for us back when we were PC active.
@_@ Foxhound Corporation actually was heavily based on the games until I served my term as CEO and made it more efficient.
You have Militiaries Sans Frontieres, which I'm a fanboy of >.>, who are the truest mercs in game with no ties to any government or corporation other than what's being sent to them for fighting their battles.
There was a Dead Cell, but that's dead now >.>...
But yeah the game is VERY rich with MGS inspired players and characters. Back during Chromosome I tried to play Big Boss on the field with my Scout suit.
