Should i level up SMG or not cos it does so little damage per tier and the proficiency.n++ Is the assault variant a big different and do you notice it?

the assault varients are devistating qcq, get the sharpshooter skill to level 3 and it will beat the ar.

If you're looking for a weapon that provides excellent short range damage even while strafing, the SMG is excellent, but you may want to see the changes in 1.7 first.

Reduces dispersion, I believe. Very helpful for getting the most out of an SMG.

Hell yea! The SMG is quite powerful when you hit proficiency level.
Also add a few levels into sharpshooter it does make a difference with your range.

I run Basic SMG and Standard Flaylock. In CQC, the SMG never fails me. It's at a sweet spot, really. Not enough range to make it OP (But enough power even at Basic level to obliterate ARs), but still enough range to out-DPS a Shotgunner, just by moving backwards and unloading a clip.
I have Level 5 SMG with Level 3 Prof, and I can honestly tell you, if I hadn't put so much into ARs, I would've had the SMG as my main weapon. I do sometimes regret getting Prototype Assault SMG, because it destroyed my wallet, but then I don't care because of the amazing damage that came with Prof 3.
