...It's still the worst TDM gamemode in the history of TDM gamemodes.
Map size-to-player count ratio is way off.
Spawning is the worst i've ever seen. You will be placed in front of several enemies, literally 3 feet away from you, several times in a row. Smart deploy? Really?
lolsmart deploy also creates a snowball effect. It will continue to spawn players in a spot camped by enemies farming kills until lolsmart deploy decides spawning them in that area may not be such a great idea. But by then, you are already down 25 clones.
Pertaining to the 50 clone ambush "variation", what is up with the awkward minute long period of time after a team wins? The game should have ended, however, you are forced to sit and stare at a spawn screen forever. At least allow people to collect their Isk/SP and leave. |

The whole reason i dont play Ambush anymore summed up quite nicely, the funny thing i want to add is that when smart deploy decides ow damn ...lets spawn them overhtere ....its ussually is still in walking distance of the rolling team...
When this loop occurs, you cannot breakout from it...

Ill just throw out an example..
My squad V some protos on one of the new ambush maps We wipe out all the guys coming at us..... Only to have them respawn at the highground directly above us (without uplinks) !!!!! woop thanks smart deploy !!!!!
In my opinion , Ambush should be kept strictly to smaller maps, or play inside the City installlations with all the exits blocked, running 100's of metres to find targets is no way to run TDM |

Keri, most of my Corp would agree with you
but ambush is exactly what it should be, Frontliners going toe to toe
It gets ruined by OP squads but thats just a normal Dust514 mechanic right ?? |

Yeah, that happens with other game modes as well, but at least in Objective based games you can limit your losses by avoiding the chokepoints.
Ambush is more brutal.
But I dislike TDM in almost all games. DUST's TDM is probably the worst I've ever played.
Broken spawns are just the coup de grace...

These are some good points (I've numbered them for easy reference ). I've also added a couple more:
[4] Puts you in war barge with timer around 8 seconds; however, it then realizes it's stupid to put you in the warbarge with so little time to go, so immediately takes you out of it. Please either drop us in the warbarge with 20+secs to go or take us straight to battle screen.
[5] Empty matches. Your squad is there, maybe one or two blueberries, and no one on the other team. You either run around an empty map/AFK for 15 mins (and probably lose because someone exited, losing you a clone) or exit immediately (which I think still counts as a loss and loses you the suit you're wearing, if you spawned). It's really the worst thing about ambush in my opinion.
Apart from [4], these are all unique to ambush, which is part of the reason why it's a worse mode than skirmish. Unfortunately the isk/SP payout (once you're capped) is much better from ambush. So there's really also another problem with ambush:
[6] Better isk/SP payout, which means ambush, despite its crapness, is unavoidable.
CCP should raise the post-cap per-match SP gain to 2000 for skirmish. A skirmish goes on twice as long as an ambush on average, so you'd gain SP at the same rate playing the two modes if they made this change (assuming that you get 1000WP per ambush and 2000WP per skirmish, of course). |
