It is probably my biggest motivator, those super close battles are a damn drug to me.
It was a few months back but we manage to hack all 5 objectives at 25% MCC armor with them just under 100%. They never got another hack the rest of the fight although they tried. The ticks eventually went to 1 and 1 and the match ended with neither side knowing who won that battle. I'll tell you that Victory screen was pretty damn rewarding. I've never come close to a match like that.

The same day I picked up a ar and Logi G1 suit. Myself Doomtree and a random heavy got three orbitals and won the game. Went 51/11 in advanced gear and cloned them.
Sounds good but they were all sticking together the whole enemy team they beat our blue dots bad. But the three of us turned it around. It got to the point that I started seeing people on the other team spawn in see me and just take off running by the end of the match. I have never seen a sure loss turn into a sound win since.
You know that moment were the blue dots lose their testicular fortitude and start picking up sniper rifles? I was sure that our performance at the gate made em turn those back into the supply depot. They grabbed their pair of nuts and went into battle.
The three of us knew we had just motivated a big push one by one STD heavies and MLT suits started showing up at our backs. It was pure magic. The orbital was authorized and it was 16 vs 16 right next to the cru in the twin towers city. Us outside and them in. Boom 15 kill OB. We poured into the city.
My logi started fortifying a strong hold Orbital authorized. 12 Kill OB moved up took the point now they were outside of the city on the helipad shooting and spamming grenades like crazy clawing back in we just held 30 seconds orbital authorized boom 8 kills. Mopping up the rest was easy only the guys who still wanted to fight showed up and they got cloned because of it.
Next time you see me, bring more friends.

Back in Chromosome, I think:
Was playing a Domination in the city map with the 'B' inside the building close to a CRU (somehow I never seem to get that map anymore), can't remember what it's called. Anyway, the objective was ping pong-ing between our team and theirs, and for a better part of the first half of the game, the enemy held Alpha and our MCC shields were gone with about 70-80% armor left.
Running in with uplinks (Caldari assault), I ninja hacked the objective after dropping in some uplinks behind the crates, while the enemy was engaged trying to kill blues coming in from the other end, immediately dropping RE's following the hack (anyone remember the 2 equipment slots the Caldari assaults used to have?).
As soon as the remotes are dropped, I get 2 tapped to the head and manage to blow up 3 of the guys coming in for the counterhack. One thing leads to another and we end up having all the blues dog piling into the area around the objective peppering it with uplinks and nanohives. After my death, I respawn in a semi-logi suit with a rep tool and nanohives, and run around behind our squad heavy (back when heavies were a thing to be feared), keeping him supplied and his armor topped up.
Cue our OB just as the enemy tries a huge counter push and successfully clears most of the defenders from the objective. Mopping up the remaining reds that escaped the OB, we manage to hold the point till the end of the game, and all the while the enemy's MCC is shooting at ours, dropping our MCC's armor further down.
Right down to the last tick of our MCC's armor, we manage to hold off the enemy and scored the win on the last tick. Can't remember my score at the time but our squad was pretty much carried by that epic heavy and the 2 reps we kept trained on him at all times.

Went into a Domination solo, as i load in, i see the MCC at 50%, there are no people on my side and the opposing side has a 10-11 people...i went 60/1 that game, 3-4 quit on the enemies side, i hacked the point and camped it like a guarddog, needless to say ...noone got close...and those that did, died a horrible death.
and i won the game solo as i never saw anyone else spawn in after me, the 3-4 guys that quit where from the same corperation out of a team of 6, this was in 1.6 about 2 weeks ago.
Fun game, i should get more of those :p

Probably one of my more recent matches where I went 76/3 with my squad.
We were playing Skirmish on Line Harvest. In the initial rush my team captured C and D before trying to push on both A and B. I was attacking A, but my squad's attack faltered when we got forge sniped from one of the towers by a Gastun's. Once we respawned we realised that C was pretty much over-run, so most of the squad moved around the back to take the CRU whilst I stayed at D with some blueberry meatshields.
Our assault went pretty well initially, until most of our people at D got overwhelmed and we had to pull back to avoid losing our last objective. The squad moved back to C (apart from me) and tried to take it. Unfortunately we never quite made enough progress and most of the time we were hanging back pinning people down. Conveniently, most of the pinned down people took cover in such a way that it exposed their backs to me, leading to a quick and brutal demise. Several times they tried to attack D, once with an orbital (that killed me) and once with a large number of people who again succeeded in killing me, but after I respawned they generally died horribly.
The game was wearing on and our MCC was getting low on health - however, they were getting low on clones. We rallied for another push, with which we successfully exterminated the enemy team completely and won the match.

I lightly mentioned this somewhere else, but the topic at hand allows me to go into greater detail.
Some odd months ago, I was in an Ambush (as I often did at the time) and found myself in a game where the opposing side immediately claimed a tower and sat there. Four FGers, three others supporting them. Feeding them ammo, health, revives, and spawns (if they needed). After a while, my team was fed up with them being there so we turned our attention to them. 12-40 was the current score (with us at the 12). What happens next is by far the most glorifying, most stupendous thing I have ever seen in Dust 514. It will truly follow me as long as I play this game.
One guy went to the far reaches of the map and called in a dropship. I saw it being called in from afar. At that time, I was charging up my Forge Gun, preparing to fire. I instantly cancel the charge when I saw the dropship go airborne. "Oh, man. This I have to see." (I enjoy watching dropships fly and heartlessly fall.) This ************ went up and was evading the ongoing fire by staying far out of their range. "Not bad." I thought. Then he did the craziest thing ever. He goes charging at the tower's top at an angle. It immediately was turned into a box of fire from the FG squad. "Awhhh... That's a shame." I start to charge my FG back up.
"... What? No way." I broke the charge. This son of a ***** had his ship angled so perfectly, so skillfully, that the burning box was still being hurled at the tower's top. I didn't see him eject. "No. *******. Way. Man." This... this magnificent bastard crashed into the top of the tower, killing all seven of them. Never before have I seen such magnificence. I stood there in awe for a moment. I had to hold back that single manly tear from coming out. This guy sacrificed himself and his ship to kill them.
I don't know how many watched it, but my entire team seemed so alive after that event. We pushed and slaughtered all of them and it ended with us having six clones to their zero. We stuck together throughout that match after that event and the enemy could not stop us. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
I'll never forget.

Domination, Line Harvest.
Half squad of Zion, and a half squad of MSF were facing off against a squad of ML and a half squad of someone else, I want to say Anon, but it could just have easily been Dark Legion or any of the other g*y tactics in pubs crews.
The enemy had snipers and AV on the towers, so the fight underneath the pipes and table top became a blood bath. We were not winning the fight, and the MCC battle was completely out of reach.
Down twenty clones, our team gets a pair of OB's. One gets dropped into the horde, and racks up a large number of kills. Down by 15.
I drop an OB on the tower watching the objective. 30-15 for the enemy.
My squad makes a push, ratting out uplinks, and getting closer to the objective. 20-12 for them.
We get crushed by an OB. 16-6.
Respawn, get another OB, drop it as soon as I spawn. 8-6. 2 ticks of armor left for us.
Last push, we are making progress, snatch a few kills, start realizing we are not going to do it in time. 3-2 for the enemy.
Drop my last OB, get one kill. 2-1.
The dude from MSF drops his OB with one tick left on armor. Gets the kills.
Final score: 1 - 0 for us.
In the last minute, I would suspect that there were at least 6 OB's dropped. Our teams hit, theirs missed.
Great game.

I was running solo in a domination match the other day that I thought for sure was going to go south for my team, and badly. My team was almost all starter corps, although some of them had formed themselves into a squad of four, and we were against a full squad of protos (names withheld because I've forgotten) with what looked like a couple of duos plus their own blueberries.
The match started as I expected with the reds gaining control of the objective and scattering the few scouts from my team that had tried in vain to beat them to it. As expected, the protos went to work. If I recall, the entire first wave was wiped out in the first rush, me included. We took out one enemy clone. The protos had the complex locked down with enough hives and Proto 'nades to make any normal nerd blush. It was going to be hell to try and take that point.
I had initially spawned in with a couple of uplinks and hives, dropping them on the way to the complex. Spawning in on one my uplinks, I was expecting a slaughter. I was expecting the blueberries to scatter. I was expecting to see that cute little ring of nine snipers in the redline. Whatever I was expecting, it wasn't a cascade of notifications that made it clear my entire team of blueberries were spawning in on my uplinks and **rushing the gates.**
They died. Fast. Those precious blueberries were charging toward death as if they could stop the inevitable. They depleted two advanced uplinks in the first couple minutes of the game. I dropped more, as well as some extra hives, and ran towards one of the other entrances to try and get an uplink inside, because I always want that tactic to work. At this point we had 50ish clones to their 120. Alas, I was bad at infiltrating and died to a shotgun in the back.
As I was spawning back in, I noticed the darndest thing. The clone count was 20-44. We were still losing, just not as bad I thought we should be. We still hadn't managed to break through their defenses and enter the complex, let alone gain control of the objective. Then suddenly the count was 8-14. We were around half armor on our MCC. Their grenades arced over the walls, like little kernels of death.
Then I was dead, my clone terminated, but the count was only 3-7 and I couldn't risk spawning in. We had too many blueberries. Bold as they had been this entire match, I knew they were going to spawn us out of clones in their zeal to get back into the fight. 2-5 and I'm staring at my screen, wondering if this was actually going to happen. Then its 2-3, and just as fast the count reads 1-0 and my eyebrows were trying to get a better vantage point. They had done it. Those brash blueberries had done it. They had snatched victory from the jaws of a proto-stomp.

This is more of a testament to my one buddy than anything else, but here it goes...
On Sunday my friend and I were squaded up, and two randoms joined our squad. Our team was.. Special. Like all starter corps special minus the four people in my squad. On the other team, there was a full squad of some guys we play with on occasion. The game started rather well, blue dots got C, I got E and A, things seemed to be going rather well. All of a sudden, they started taking E (they had DS a DU onto a building and were spawning off that.) I ran to a relatively safe spot to call in my ADS to get the uplink off the roof, but, the damage was done. They went ahead and took everything but D (which was taken while they assaulted). It honestly seemed like it was a list cause. Blue dots were dropping right and left, the stench of Imperial SR was in the air.
The blues were doing their best to put the enemy down, but, we were gonna get out cloned for sure. My buddy, Siv, did the only thing he could, pulled out his hack suit and a car and went after it. He took E, retook D, took B, while the blue dots and I fought them at A (the bridge). All I needed up doing was scanning and repping with a little resupplying too.
Without it was the stars aligning. Blue dots got their act together, and Siv hacking like a madman. It was a testament to why one should never give up.
Best part, when telling our buddies that they did damn well, all we got was "Our blue dots sucked". Not like we had more or anything... |

Two come to mind:
1. Domination, already lost over half our MCC's shields and not gotten close to hacking. I'd given up, but focused on killing. The rest of my squad didn't give up. After a lot of death we managed to hack objective. From then on it was a blood bath. Would not of held the objective without some well timed orbitals, but mostly due to remote explosives from a squad mate. Both MCC strength and clones came down the wire.
2. Ambush. Enemy held a hill. Clones were dying, we were down 7 more clones toward the end. Get an orbital right at the end. The hill is cleansed, at least 500 wp from the orbital (not all kills), we won. Much laughter. |

One of the very first corp battles I played (way back in the closed beta) was probably my most memorable comeback match.
This was back when most corp battles were only 3 objectives with 8v8. It was the map with the crows nest, and they had managed to take 2 of 3 objectives long enough to take our MCC shields down. Every time we captured an objective they'd just take the one we had before...this circle of capturing.
As the dedicated logi on the team I was relying on our heavy support (back when heavies were viable) to keep us pressing foward, but I told the FC I needed to just do my own thing for a minute while they held our one objective. The FC was furious and yelling at me to stick with the squad...but I had to ignore him. Instead I told him to hold A and wait for my signal and then have our squad rush B.
I ran to the backside of the crows nest (the side without the ladder) and killed a few guys before proceeding to climb up the ladder and drop a bunch of uplinks down. That's when I gave the signal just as our forces were hacking C (at the time it was in between A and D next to the CRU). Now that we had the enemy at B, our forces raided it right as they were spawning in, killing everything in their path, Not to mention all of the spawns in the crows nest. And if it couldn't get any better we earned another orbital right at the perfect time for us to get the hack.
Within the minute we had secured B and redlined them just barely in time for us to slowly pass them up in MCC armor right at the very end. If it hadn't been for those uplinks I don't think we would have been able to win.
