With china going to the moon to look for resources, what do that mean for the rest of us
Well the earth has a finite amount of resources and many of them are rare on earth but not rare in space. wIth all the doom and gloom of china finding more resources could this be the start of building city like spaceships

I honestly thought I would be living on the moon by 2013. Until there is serious money to be made from mining in space it's just not going to happen. |

That would be cool but with current technology we couldn't get something that big into space but soon we will.
Mining on the moon is non profitable at the mo and apparently theres barely anything 'worth' mining there.

Helium, which is literally one of the most rare/hardest materials to gather on earth, is in 'abundance' (compared to earth; this is due to solar wind and the lack of a lunar atmosphere) in the soil on the moon. It's application in Particle Accelerators and superconductors and magnets is extremely important.
EDIT: Don't speculate that there's nothing of value there. There's tons of value in the moon, what with it's solid and non-molten core and helium soil and all. Oh, and titanium.

Ah ok, but you wouldn't make any money on that, the whole process would cost too much and we don't have the technology to move large amounts which again would cost way more than it would be worth. Maybe in the future though.

Indeed. It'd be more feasible if they did 3 things (which right now would take decades of planning and working):
1) Space Elevator 2) Moon Base 3) Robotics Advancements

Oh, and also, the space elevator: would be useful for energy gathering and as a great space base.

Just like humans to gut the Moon. So reckless and self destructive to ourselves. This is just menacingly ignorant.
Madness is the emergency exit. You can just step outside, and close the door on all those dreadful things that happened.

Because the life on the dark side of the moon would definitely hate us wrecking their helium rich soil in the name of scientific progress (what with all the titanium and scientific applications of the rare elements under the crust of the moon).
