My friend and I, squadded, +14 unsquadded blueberries versus 2 fully proto'd squads + 2 squadded + 2 unsquadded............ I'm sure there is NOTHING that can be done about this. |

I for one would love to see forced squad placement in battles if running solo. I mean this game is supposed to penalize solo play so why not actually penalize it.
They call me the C.L.I.T commander.

I think what he was saying is: why were the two proto squads stacked? If the match maker had placed one proto squad on one team and the other on the other team. The match would have very likely been balanced. The question I have for the OP is where did you get the information about the makeup of the other team's squads?

The way they were moving about on the map said they were sticking together as squads. Ya know, heavy with a 2 logis and 3 support assaults stomping around, and the other squad was doing this roaming cluster |

So, it was a guess then. There are a lot of factors here that you are considering. For instance a smart blueberry will find a group of players, in game, who are obviously running together, and stick close to them. Being in their squad or on comms with them is not necessarily a fore drawn conclusion. Also some people just work well together. There is a guy in my corp that I like playing with a lot. It always seems like he and I are always in the same place at the same time, even though we don't ever really go about coordiating this verbally. A lot of the times I think we just think along the same lines.
Anyway there are many possible factors here that you are not considering.

When i solo run stuff, I dont run proto gear. Too risky. I assume that's a common thought. The response times to objectives i snuck my scout self around to hack got responded to. Very quickly, there was communication, there was tactics. These things are easy to spot if you know what to look for. Watch as they hack something, if one hacks and the other covers rather than assist, theres comms happening. If you tag a heavy and one of his assaulters breaks off and jumps you while he continues to stomp on, theres comms. If you shotty one and the other 5 turn on you and fire one bullet to kill you instantly, theres comms. If a squad is running in diamond formation effectively, theres definately comms. There wasnt any diamond formations, but there was comms between the squads with proto gear. |

I am by no means saying that the other team was balanced properly to yours. What I am saying is that the information you have given is far to spacific for your method of obtaining said information. In other words you cannot possibly know what you have said to be 100% fact. Thus it is useless to the purpose of trying to understand where the match making failed. It is as simple as that, a basic rule of the scientific method. Do not draw conclusion based on incomplete data.

it's pretty simple to figure out if the other team has squads with proto gear. 1: Look at the roster. If there's 6 players with the same corp name...... 2: When your face becomes a splatter, take a glance at the kill report.
Before I deploy, I know what I'm up against. And all I have to do is tap "up" Just to help people wondering how the "intelligence" was gathered....
What Op is talking about happens all the time and is one of the worst aspects of the game IMO. There is no reason that Scotty shouldn't be able to put the 2 squads on opposing sides, as "he's" going to know quite well who is and isn't in a squad. The bulk of Dust players aren't the ones who get into PC battles. We don't have the isk to run full proto every match. And at least, for me, I find it a more challenging match to face off with lesser gear, with un-coordinated players on both sides than it is to simply be meat fodder for the latest squad of proto pub stomping.
Hell, I'll go one further. I know the names of the other players that commonly run in my playtimes. When I see them, I know their gear, their most common load-outs, and their squads tactics. Don't need a crystal ball, I just pay attention. I find it hard to believe I'm the only one. It's not all that hard, paying attention helps. |

I'm not saying that it doesn't. Or that I haven't witnessed it happening even. But as a thread pointing out a technical flaw in the game, the OP is incredibly lacking in the detail nessesary to be of any use to anyone on the DEV team who may need information because they are trying to trouble shoot the match maker.
If the OP is not intent on supplying enough information to be of use, then what is the purpose in even posting this? To be able to read himself complaining about it? No offence intended.

Factional battles guys. In these games the attackers can't be swapped with defenders, I think that clears up most of this discussion. Secondly, if two or three squads try to join all at once they may be able "sync" together and all be on the same team. I find this to be a problem. And the solution I would recommend is group battles in which a group of 16 is pre made and all placed on a team against another pre made team. Also with gear limitations basic, advanced, prototype to take out the proto stomp and add a basic easy going mode. |
