Just wondering what brought you guys into playing Dust514?
For me, as an long term EvE player when I first heard about an FPS shooter on the PS3 i was a little skeptical at first then I started reading up and even watched the very first E3 trailer which caught my interest, granting only just a bit. So when I heard it was out for open Beta I said 'What the hell, why not?' and downloaded it but that it all I did. Downloaded it and continued to do my thing in EvE and never looked back until this trailer Gathering your Forces showed me what I was missing out on. It still is a good trailer to show what Dust can become with a little patience with regards to CCPs rapid patches, real content will come later once all the major issues are sorted.
As the game is currently I can see the great and wonderful potential Dust514 can achieve and the possibility it can impact the EvE universe and I welcome Dust mercenaries to ruining "Local' and shut it down for X amount of time in both Low sector Factional Warfare and Null Sector warfare... but who knows what else we Mercs are going to be able to do in the near future?
So before 1.7 comes out, what brought you to play Dust? (I seem to be logging into Dust more than EvE and now my Null corps mates are wondering where I am considering I'm the a Logistics Officer ! Oh no!  )

The Playstation Home Event Horizon Lounge back in closed beta. CCP left so many untapped monetary possibilities by not providing purchasable content on that platform.

I don't remember which day of e3 2011 it was exactly. but e3 finished up on june 9th and they said that you'd be able to talk with guys in space and call down orbitals from another game.
the big thing was being able to talk to guys playing another game. that sounded awesome to me. I was playing MAG heavily at the time.
for a week I looked up gameplay videos. I learned nothing. it was purple squares and red squares against a black background.
on june 15th I started a character. over the next 3 weeks I got 5 of my psn buddies to join, so we could sit around in psn video chat and play eve.
now i'm talking to the guys on the ground. dropping orbitals.

Saw the words Dust 514 beta now available on play station store flash across the news bar on my playstation. Said lets try it, fell in love with the game.

yep. And little big planet as well. Both my sons play dust a lbp. I shell out alot of dough both ways. They just have to create dust stuff. It would be nice to get em a drop suit pack for lbp. |

I joined thinking this game would be similar to the demos, massive 64 player games, **** tons of vehicles. A TTK higher than 1 second.
Still waiting for all of it.

The official story is that I wanted to get Skylanders for my kids. I was aware of DUST development because I played EVE. I wasn't going to get a console just for DUST that's for sure.
I found more positive things about the Playstation over other consoles so I figured DUST would be an amusing little addition.
Yes, you hear that CCP and all you tryhards? I was willing to throw in a little support for your halfassed game as an amusing aside to Skylanders!
That's why I laugh at all the console thumb jocky nerds talking about proving your manhood through vanilla assault etc. Sorry, but you'll have to do more than fondle a game controller to prove your manhood.

One of my best friends playing it, told me to try it out while still in closed beta
Waiting till it went open, that week played.
Started loving the scout speed playstyle as it matched the closest to my beloved Quake
Scouts are now **** tanks to CCPs boner for medium frames and rifle like weapons and hate for speed

Well, it was for the PS3, was related to EVE, was aesthetically pleasing the art style, and I received an invite from CCP for closed Beta.
So I played it.
