DEAL WITH IT YOU POINTLESS NUBS. SO F*CKING WHAT?!
I spent cash on it and could care less. I agreed to CCP's right to do as they pleased in game when I signed up. That's what the EULA agreement is for.
Yes, I did read it.
I have a friend who is a solicitor and he says that it gives them carte blanche to do as they please without warning or reason. They only say they will provide a game to play and make it available to you to play, end of. The rest is filler pretty much that circumvents any other responsibility or rights.
You get the right to play, thats it.
Be grateful they are telling you anything they do. Most companies wouldn't and don't.
Now, a little advice to all these QQ freaks. Put your energies into something a little more useful like helping others or something productive.
If not, leave the planet.
Seriously. |

CCP has the legal right to make all the ARs in the game 1,000,000 dmg per bullet.
Can I assume you would use this same pointless argument against all the people who would complain about that too?
No.

I think the point is that you signed an agreement to allow them to do just that if they chose. If they did, I would just move on to another game rather than waste time whining here.

tbh i couldnt care less that they are getting round to removing them. i'm just pissed about how they are doing it on the sly without any warning. saying its finalised and in the patch is not warning as its already done especially after they said they had no plans to remove them even though they obviously did. remember vehicle changes have been pushed back for months because it was a big patch. no one can possibly think ccp just threw in a removal at the last second. it was planned all along regardless of statements saying it was not.
thats the only issue that concerns me. a happy community is a paying community. what reason do i have now to spend money on dust anymore if they will just remove stuff at will without warning us or giving us a reasonable alternative.

Can I assume you would use this same pointless argument against all the people who would complain about that too? Your "arguments" consist of nothing but what ifs, fear mongering, and just plain old butthurt. They do in fact have the legal right to do that. I personally wouldn't be happy about a change like that, but I wouldn't threaten to sue them over it, much less try to blackmail them or threaten them personally as many of the "pro-BPO" crowd has. I would just stop playing, why don't you do the same if you feel so betrayed? Also, the removal of BPOs is good for the future of the game, and CCP is doing it because of that reason. Making ARs do 1,000,000 damage is not good for the future of the game, and so I doubt CCP would do that. Your arguments suck.

There are only two free things in EVE, Capsules and Starter Ships, both of them are worthless , and are meant for travel. They are equivalent to a cloth tunic and a wooden stick, if you want to think of them like a traditional MMO.

Well I can see we have some seasoned, well thought out arguments. Even some great analogies in use too...
Shall we do it all again? You agreed to let CCP do as they pleased when you downloaded this free game. You agreed that they shall provide nothing more than a free game to play on and be made available to you within the times they specified it would be available.
This means that they will do as they please. Sure, they will have to careful at points but it still means they have you by the balls pretty much. It is a bit stupid of them to say they wouldn't take BPO out then go back on their word but there is nothing you can do about it, apart from learn to play without BPO's. Simple answer that.
Maybe the game will be better without BPO, maybe it won't.
What really needs to happen here is that the idiocy surrounding it stops. Its a game for crying out loud. Deal with it. Move on to something else if it offends you that much. |

Why wouldn't you?
Because I'm smart enough to know that warning the devs that people could leave the game would be more productive than silently walking out the door.
Why aren't you?
No.

Those "what ifs" are called analogies. The one I used in particular, is called a "reductio ad absurdum", where you take the core ideas behind a person's argument, and use them to show that they lead to absurd scenarios.
Damaging the value of aurum, by having no kind of guarantee on any purchases made with it and removing the selling points used to advertise the currency in the first place, is also bad for the game. Perhaps CCP appreciate being told just how bad, rather than having stats and no context with which to judge their future decisions.

Your analogy is fairly absurd if you think about it.
Removing BPO's will open the player market. In EVE there is virtually NO BPO at all. Just starter ships and pods which are virtually useless except for travelling around quickly. Aurum is rarely used for anything more than decorative items. Its all about making ISK and playing the game, same as DUST should be.
Pretty sure we will have the starter fits knocking around still if you are worried about having no infinite gear/ weapons though.
You can put it anyway you want, but the fact is that you all need to get weaned off these things, just like aim assist needs turning off and friendly fire needs enabling. Take off the training wheels already. |

Then they shouldn't have sold them in the first place. I'm not going to stand for being "weaned off" these things when people spent money on this game with the explicit intentions of buying them. CCP made the decision put BPOs in the game, now they have to live with it.

I would not presume to speak for everyone but for me its less 'wah I don't get free **** anymore' and more 'ccp is making a mistake removing these when they could just make them a legacy item' or 'ccp is being premature in removing bpo that might get reintroduced in a few months time when they could just set fitting reqs to 50000 so they can't be used till then'
If blood and sweat don't teach them perhaps time will

This isn't about the law for most of us. Can CCP do this, yes, but should they do this I believe not.
This may be good for the Isk economy but I think bad for the micro-transaction, RL money, business model. CCP is now getting a reputation for first introducing "permanent" BPO items for sale, which people used RL money to buy, then removing them and replacing them with less valuable consumable items.
As a result loosing people's trust when it comes to buying things from CCP. |

All valid points here certainly. CCP could have handle this better that's for sure, but it still does not warrant thge kind of reaction that occurred.
Legacy items for an elite few makes no sense, but that's my opinion. Allowing some to run full BPO suits while most can't is pointless for anyone really.
The suggestion about setting it at 50000 for later use was a good one, IF they have intentions of reimplementing BPO's. I think that they don't though.
Still leaves us at square one with the reality that we agreed to let them do as they please, when they please by signing the EULA agreement after downloading and installing the game.
Life goes on regardless. |
