I only get a few GGs and a few times gotten mail because I saved some guys' protosuits with my injector and repper. Other than that, nothing. I don't do anything to be recognised. 
EDIT: I do get the occasional assault or heavy crouching in front of me as I rep them and resupply their ammo.

Being unrecognized is an advantage, I prefer it. The lower peoples expectations are of you , the more you can damage them unexpectedly.
I know I've been in a pub against unkown people or corps expecting to redline my opponent. Next thing I know my MCC is exploding and I'm trying to figure out WTF just happened.
Someone expects to see you with an HMG? Pop em with an NT-511. You think I play logi? Check out this scout with a creodron shotgun.
I would definitely recommend skilling all the way into your favorite weapon system and suit before branching out. But with hit detection improved, even militia weapons are viable. And getting into level three of weapons is under 200k skill points.
Be unpredictable, and versatile. And always check 6! |

I haven't been recognized, but i did go against the same squad 4 matches in a row and had EVERY ob placed on my head.
First 2 matches i was running a gorgon with xt-1's, having my CEO gun for me.
After getting wyrko breached twice i realized the gig was up, and switched to my suicidal recruit BPO frame, kept killing them with twinweilds. After that they brought out their cores...
Still charged em like a madman.
