so, still same two problems from 6 motnhs ago.
Assault rifles are the standard go to weapon for anything, extreme accuracy at extreme range with a ROF and DPS (damage per shot) high enough that even a militia assault rifle can outclass anyone who isnt way more experienced at FPS's than the one using it. so far the only times ive seen AR suers die any number of times in a match, they were bing head-up-ass ******** anyways, anyone with any common sense just doesnt die with them, little ridiculous. not saying it needs a nerf, but just looking at how weapons engage and maybe getting the AR off a couple of people's toes wouldnt hurt.
and then theres the big killer, what would, if fixed, make the AR problem irrelevant, that theres STILL no disincentive for a team to just pick 6 snipers, go sit on a ridge away from any objectives, and take potshots that will almost never kill anyone, while the rest fo the team gets curbstomped trying to win, because at that point it becomes 2v1.
like seriously, was playing two matches in a row, would keep hacking a point, trying to defend it, then wonder why theres only 2 other guys with me on a match with only 3 points total, turns out, when i respawn, 6 people abouts are sitting nex tto the spawn with snipers.
its infuriating, and why so many games that try to have "large scale abttles" have trouble, because the regular players is a KDR humping fool who wouldnt dare go anywhere near an objective that might lose him his full proto-gear fit. |

You probably haven't heard about the combat rifle and rail rifle yet. They'll be added in 1.7 which will hopefully address your concerns.

In other words, the Ar is getting fixed by adding different ar variations

Deal with it, AR's are the bread and butter. What did you expect, everyone to run around with shotguns and snipers?
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

The one thing that irks me about the current AR is its omnipotence.
Its good enough out to 75 meters, its good enough within 5 meters
With the new AR variants, the weapons should feel less omnipotent. The current AR will have a shorter range, and the CR filling the block between the AR and the RR.
Refunding a few AUR militia Blueprints pertaining to vehicles because their respective modules will not exist anymore

December 10th the new guns come out. Besides, Scrambler Rifle is already better than the AR, but don't tell anyone.
Who cares what some sniper has to say

What did you expect, everyone to run around with shotguns and snipers? problem i see with "bread and butter" is that yes, it is adn SHOULD be the standard weapon, but when every OTHER weapon has an extreme niche use, and the AR and its variants can more often than not operate within several percent of the niche weapons performance in its given role, with near none of its drawbacks, it goes from "standard weapon" to "your a dumbass with anything else" |

I just started with 1.6, so I'm surprised that the AR has been like this for over 6 months. I agree about the multiple snipers, although I'm noticing tankers doing it too. There have been many times when a tanker is too scared to help the team. Why not recall the tank if you're afraid of dying in it.

But seriously, like the other guy said, there is an inherent problem with the rifles if anything but is a sure way to land on the right portion of the killfeed.
They are, as said above, omnipotent. No reason to use anything but main rifles. |

Seriously, they all defy standard conventions, so when a weapon that conforms to those is available, it is usually more powerful due to the general fact that when you say "Conforms to conventions, it means powerful, rapid fire, hitscan weapons.
Which are fine. They just need to be balanced with those weapons that may not be as normal as them.
Point, LR. It desperately needs to be a little more form-fitting, with a longer effective range (20m window, 40 meters out is very hard to keep when others have a weapon that doesn't have that issue), with a much softer falloff when it is out of its effective window. That, along with a much faster warmup to its optimum damage, would make the weapon more able to stand against the more conventional weapons.
None of the niche weapons, exempt shotgun, are balanced to be better then the opposing weapon of a more conventional style.
LR v. RR NK v. Melee PlC v. SL
I feel the devs went "Hey, a neat weapon design, now lets balance it with the other neat weapons we have in game", and when these new weapons hit, their lack of power is now exagerated
DUST is a half decent game.
Be happy its free.
