Right now we have a couple of bonusses relied to Dropsuits. Those split in a common suit bonus that is valid for all suits of that type and a racial bonus that is valid for a suit of that race.
That leads to rather strange combinations e.g. gallente assault suit with a shieldrecharge bonus.
So the idea is instead of a common suit bonus that is shared among all races and a racial bonus that only aplies to certain suittype of a certain race. Make a generic racial bonus that is valid for ALL suits of that race alongside with a bonus that is only valid for a certain type of suit for a certain race.
This way suits would be more specialized, CCP would avoid strange (unreasonable) combinations, every race would get a unique flavor and CCP could concentrate on more meaningfull suit specific bonus
The generic racial bonus should be related to the suit itself where as the special suit bonus should be related to modules, equipment or weapons.
The racial bonus should somehow reflect the philosophy of that race and their current implementation.
E.g: gallente regeneration: +1 HP/s Armour repair per level caldari shields: +5% shieldrecharge, -5% shield recharge delay/shield depleted recharge delay per level Amarr eHP: + 4% dropsuitshield + 4% dropsuitarmor per level Minmatar mobillity: +1% sprintspeed, +4% stamina, +4% stamina recovery per level
The above bonusses are just examples to get the basic Idea!
For the Amarr assault this would look like: Amarr bonus: +4% dropsuitshields + 4% dropsuitarmor per level Amarr assault bonus: - 5% Laser weapon heat buildup
for the sentinal: Amarr bonus: +4% dropsuitshields + 4% dropsuitarmor per level Amarr sentinal bonus: +2% to heavy weapon reload speed

I agree with the concept. I always have. However...
Amarr should be the Armor Tanking faction. They have been Armor Tankers since 2003, after all.

If I may interject something: Add in a VERY SLIGHT buff to gear that match the race that you choose, like 1% or what ever passive boost to ALL things of your race. But it doesn't get bigger, it's a literal one-time buff. That will make race less cosmetic, but make it so that any race can still use other stuff.

Basicly I am with you regarding the Amarr and as I said these bonusses are more examples to show tha bsic direction. BUT in dust CCP decides for what reason ever to design the Amarr as dualtankers that was the reason I gave them bonusses to shield and amor as well. |

Agree that would be another approach to give every race a unique touch, but I guess we like progression through skills and that the way it is done up to now. |

But strange/unusual combinations are what we want. Dust is a game of customization, not cookie cutter loadouts.
Also, once loyalty points come out, players will only be able to buy top-of-the-line equipment from the race they choose to fight for in FW, as I understand it anyways.

But a shield recharge for armor tankers I guess most amro tankers would prefere a different bonus . The bonusses we get should reflect our role on the battlefield and the flavour of the race where the suit comes from. Giving gallente shield bonus is not usefull and giving caldaris a bonus to armor repair seems wrong they are shieldtanker by nature. And this should be refletet by the skill and their bonusses. |
