Don't know if these are intentional or not but I think fixing these would be a small boost in utility overall.
1) While passive scanning is 360, it seems to be stronger on your forward facing 30 degree angle, tested this out myself as well, things pop up through walls when I'm facing it, and fade away when I turn away, and this is without changing distances.
2) passive scanning does not seem to be consistent, at times it feels like it runs on randomized sonar, as if it decides on its own if it wants to send out a signal or not. Not sure if I am imagining it or if it is just a random coincidence of the "sonar" scan but it seems like there are certain materials that can't be scanned through while other can, and it is independent on thickness on the object, again it might just be tied to the "sonar" aspect and this mechanic might not really exist. Another thing is that passive scanning radius seems to shrink when your moving or sprinting and seems to expand to what it is suppose to be when your stationary. I mentioned all three here because I am not entirely sure which one of these is contributing to this effect.
3) Passive Scanning strength seems to lose power the further a target goes, it is not a hard radius. I've had suits appear on tacnet behind me when they were literally 5-10 m away (fortunately did not see me), but this then leaves a question as to why this person appeared 5-10 m away vs my 24 radius stat if I beat this profile or not at all if I didn't beat his profile?
Passive Scanning could be a strong trait, it is my main tool in the scout, but at the moment it seems kind of unreliable and flimsy.
Any of you guys confirm this as well?

When passive scouting I tend to hug walls 'listening' with my passive scanner. Something else I've noticed while passive scouting is that enemy boot-steps seem to be louder to the point of noticability. (I've litterally been milling along and heard 'crunch crunch crunch' only to turn to face the sound and spot a red 50 meters away darting across a field.

Ive noticed this too. It seems to ping out a signal and return the results almost like a sonar but Im not sure how far mine goes currently. Gallente scout three with range amplification 4 and a basic range amplfier for the extension of range.
Dedicated scout. Because the suit is underpowered. Imagine the good ones when we get buffed people ;)

Moody talks about this in a commentary Video he did as a solo minja. At around 2:00 you see what you guys are describing and he talks about it a little. |
