Type 2910 MK-II Galigance 0	Posted - 2013.11.28 02:04:00 - [1] - Quote Whether or not this will be heard I would like to put forward the idea of passengers in a dropship that aren't on one of the small turrets would be allowed to use their primary weapon or at least a light weapon. I only thought of this because they just sit there they don't use their hands or anything so why can't the pull out their gun and shoot, I don't think that this would cause any balancing issues due to the incredibly low range on all weapons so at least it gives the passengers a chance to take out a few people as the ship is landing or extracting them and give them a better chance of survival along with the ship.

Well, when I first decided to log into this forum site a few MONTHS ago, there was a thread that was started about this exact topic, and Type 2910, the replies were ENORMOUS! Sparks and arguments flying everywhere- ---it raised a CORE issue about the game that we never settled: whether or not the combat of Dust 514 (supposedly a GROUND-focused separation from EVE's space-only game design) should be allowed to "elevate" above ground level and PERSIST there on "firing platforms" that cruise around hunting for signs of movement on the ground. Essentially this is what you will produce if you allow players the (effective!) strategy of piling a squad of various handweapons on the open door dropship, and have the pilot simply slide them over to where they can do the most damage, and let them eat lunch and stay up there all through the match. It's almost a separate issue from being able to give a foot merc more gameplay fun--and some argued it would render the objective of "walking over to capture a null cannon" an abandoned activity (we on the ground would be too busy just hunkering down and fending off these repeated overhead hosing from truckloads of happy hillbillies). Just waiting around for who loses of clone reserves first would become the overwhelming end to each match. I personally have this reoccurring image while flying my DS: recoil from the proto plasma cannon at the left door keeps making my gunner deaf---while the ship keeps turning to the right because I've got two proto forge gunners sitting on the same side of the bus and the weight is tippin the boat---everybody on MICs, "get him, Billy Bob--get that critter runnin' down there--git him with your long gun--possum in the pan!" Maybe the devs are considering this, but if it comes to pass, all I'll be thiinking is, please Celesta, hurry up and land this DS.
