Yes, it's a joke. The only way to have matchmaking in this game is to do it yourself. There's a "Leave Game" function. Use it. CCP refuses to do anything about Public Contract matchmaking by taking the necessary steps to help the newer players. \
Meta level restricted contracts or a solo queue contracts were needed and were heavily petitioned to CCP before their supposed "Improved matchmaking" was implemented. They ignored us and we're still left with the most atrocious matchmaking of any FPS I've ever played.
They refused to implement those because of the small player base and they didn't want to segregate it any further, but without them, player retention is pathetically low. "Friends don't let friends play Dust." I like it and I have tried introducing several friends to Dust, but every single one of them hate it and I refuse to even attempt it anymore until CCP takes their head out of their ass and takes the necessary steps to correct their mistakes. |

Issue with leaving match is that so many battles are exactly like this across all game modes. Trying to find a competitive match is insanely difficult. You just have to hope you end up on the side doing the stomping if you want any SP at all.
That's the sad truth. I solo a lot. I probably solo a good 70% of my games with less than 5% of my total games being with a squad of 4 or more. It is difficult to find a match that isn't going to be a complete stomp, though not impossible. The key is when leaving a game, NEVER choose the same game mode immediately afterwards.
I play Skirmish, Domination, and fight for Amarr/Caladri FW. If one's imbalanced, I leave and move to the next one. If by some strange and cruel fate that all 4 in a row are bad matches, I reluctantly turn Dust off until later and go do something else. It is far from perfect, but it keeps you from hating it. If anything, you just get bored of the game hopping and just go do something else. Boredom > Hatred, so it keeps me sane and is far healthier for my interest in Dust. It just sucks that I have to resort to this, but it is the only way. |
