I know a lot of people have said how much better this game would be if we had capacitors involved but unfortunately I disagree. That sort of thing works fine in a game like EvE where you have plenty of time to keep track of things and activate stuff and move and check your stats every second, etc. etc. etc. but in an FPS you have enough keeping your hands full just keeping yourself alive; there's just no time for keeping track of your capacitor.
Even Dust vehicles would become pretty much unplayable for any non-EvE player and probably even some EvE players too. There's simply no time to be able to play whilst also watching out for your shield, armour, stamina, ammo and everything else going on in the game. It just adds another layer of complexity to an already complex version of a pretty simple game genre.
I get it that capacitors could be a way to add in some cool Ewar stuff to Dust but they're not the only way. We could still have Ewar that drains stamina or ammo or increases heat build-up or slows speed and all that sort of stuff and none of it needs capacitors.
Just my wee opinion - feel free to let me know why capacitors would be great and actually add something useful to this game beyond just complicating things.

Add cap as a hard limiter for vehicles and then return them to their full Closed Beta glory.
Let them run wild until they get hit with some Boundless Void Grenade and then bathe in the tears they shed as they melt after watching all of their mods cycle red....
Vehicle Operators will adapt or ragequit, either way, it'll be an improvement (figuring the ones who'll ragequit are the ones who only use vehicles as an easymode way to pad their K/DRs)

Well I can't speak for anyone else here so I will speak for myself.
I came to dust really hoping that it would be very much a reflection of New Eden on the ground. I mean they have the groundwork and cannon all ready to go, so design should have been incredibly simple.
Unfortunately this does not seem to be the case. Vehicles operate off of timers (what??) rather than capacitor.. lasers use ammo(they are cap hogs in eve)??... amarr are dual tankers(in eve they are the pre-emanate armor tankers)???...simplified damage types and no resistance plates(vehicles aside)??
Whoever decided to dumb down the game is just ********. The market doesn't need another shooter for stupid people.

Caps would be great. Rather than 30 Sec modules we could build tanks which are cap stable able to run all weaker less efficient modules all the time, but at the cost of the high value active capacitors, with actives we could be subject to EWAR as you said which would be amazing, but we would also have, I am sure, tools like in EVE to tell use how long all of our actives could last when running, we could choose to route power to specific modules at any given time.
Cap would make vehicles in this game amazing.

Not only that. The bonuses on suits should be what makes the weapons powerful, not the weapons themselves. I mean a monkey could have done this right. IT makes it EXTREMELY easy to balance weapons when you know they are only truely effective on a few suits. Can you imaing how horrible the balance in eve would be if any weapon was just as effective on any ship? Can you say rifter+lasers?
On top of that, armor AND dmg mods should be low-slots, and speed mods should be mid-slots.

Dropsuits already have a capacitor function. It's called stamina. We can manage that just fine, thank you. Capacitors would be added to vehicles, and operate much the same way as stamina does for dropsuits.
This, among many things, is something that should have been installed in Dust from the first inception. I'm baffled at these Devs. So many great things in the New Eden universe left out of Dust. |

This is a great point. Stamina is something equivalent to EvE caps for infantry; I'm not totally against vehicle capacitors but certainly not for infantry - we have enough to worry about without any new complications.
Whether the EvE players like it or not, for this game to survive it needs to be accessible for more than just the PC crossover crowd and appeal to those who want a smarter shooter than the typical COD clone - I think it's got the balance just about right in that regards but adding caps would push it over the edge and beyond the reach of the typical console player.
