Can the proto advanced and standard levels of weapons have the same stats. Instead of increased stats each lvl each weapon should get attachment points. So a proto ar will not be better then a standard ar but it could be more custom like bigger mag slower fire rate less range per shot a little more damage. It would reduce protostomping and still give good reasons to have a prototype weapon
Flying derpships and scout shotgunning 24/7 quite fun i must say

Yeah, the weapons are so balanced that we should throw more variables in the equation...

Right now they are talking about T2 weapons first. My guess is that we might see selectable ammo come with the T2 weapons. If we did get selectable ammo I'd like to see something like 2-3 ammo versions for each weapon... and the ability to swap out ammo types from magazines. Basically, you get to modify the stats of the proto variants.
T2 Scrambler rifle (Proto only)-
Conflagration Crystal: +20% damage to shield (+40%/-20% total), -50% optimal/effective range, 100% longer overheat. Scorch Crystal: +20% range. Multifrequency Crystal: +10% damage to armor (+20/-10 total), -25% optimal range, +25% ammo per clip.
T2 Plasma Rifle (Proto only)-
Null Ammo: +25% optimal/effective range, -15% RoF. Void Ammo: +15% damage, -20% optimal range, -50% effective range, -25% ammo per clip. Antimatter Ammo: +10% damage, -20% optimal range, -0% effective range
T2 Combat Rifle (Proto only)
Barrage Ammo: +15% optimal/effective range, +5% damage vs. armor. Hail Ammo: -25% optimal/effective range, -20% clip size, +15% damage vs. armor. Phased Plasma Ammo: -25% optimal/effective range, -20% clip size, (+10% damage vs. shield/ -10% damage vs. armor).
T2 Rail Rifle
Spike Ammo: +50% optimal range, +20% effective range, -10% damage. Javelin Ammo: -50% optimal/effective range, +20% RoF, +25% clip size. |

I can tell you this, they will be completely modular alpha, dps, range profile, RoF will all be modifiable but with trade offs. and consequences for using them. in eve the T3 is one of the best ships in the game it has outstanding stats but is very expensive 600 - 1500 mill a pop and very sp intensive. also if you get poped you also lose relevant skills (you lose sp) not a lot but some. I sort doubt this will carry over but you never know.

The cost scaling for usable T3s in Dust would just be stupid. The whole other lore/mechanic aspect of T3s was that you lose SP when you lose them too. Would you use a dropsuit that lost you SP when you lose it? Not only would you lose a fraction of SP, but you'd lose the ability to use something proto, more than likely.
The only way such a high cost could work is if there was something about the uplink that had a kind of 'residual consciousness' attached to it, where, it could maybe 'bleed out' for 5x longer than other suits and couldn't be killed in its downed state. |
