Seeing as I just took part in a game with you on this 600k SP alt we go up against 1 proto squad of Russian Troops of Chaos and a few Black Guard guys in full proto on the other team .. lose to them in a 50 clone ambush only getting 7 kills and the final leaderboard showed ..
only 3 ppl on our team got a kill .. 13 people got 0 kills ... and you don't see why new players would quit this game due to the matchmaking system alone ?
CPM's get off your bottoms and start ramming the point home to CCP that matchmaking cannot continue the way it is ... it is broken, it alienates 90% of the player base and makes the games boring as hell for everyone apart from the guys doing the protostomping ..
Tiercide/SP based matchmaking / PVE .. get CCP to do SOMETHING .. ANYTHING to sort it out .. for gods sake it's out of hand and if you have to shout and scream at them to fix it .. shout and scream at them to fix it ...
The game you just experienced is the type of game most new and intermediate players have to go through for months on end so is it that surprising people complain about it so much ?

I do agree matchmaking requires tweaking. I also think that on a separate note, a new player experience cannot be integrated properly into a PvP only environment. Like in EVE, a new player has to be guided through in a controlled way, teaching him the UI, shooting basics, hacking, vehicles, etc. but this can only be done in a controlled manner through a PvE environment, for which there is none. Until then, whatever they try to code together is a stop-gap measure only and new players that get brutally proto-stomped (as you describe quite well) and leave will sadly be a feature for some time to come.
Well CCP said they'd fix matchmaking in 1.4 with the 'rebuilt matchmaker' yet they somehow managed to make it worse than it was before lol
There are no plans to fix it again anytime soon so I guess we are going to have to keep shouting about it because clearly CCP don;t seem to see the problem right now |

I think that as you alluded to, PVE will be part of the fix. Partly because it will give new players something to do other than getting proto stomped, and partly because if new players have something to do other than getting proto stomped DUST will have a higher player retention, leading to a higher player count, which will lead to there being enough players on for CCP to crank up the settings on the match maker system again. I'm a great believer in PVE saving newberries from the stompfest, but I'm afraid I disagree with your assessment that matchmaking has been fixed. I regularly see teams with multiple squads and proto gear against complete newbies. These are not isolated incidents, they are extremely common, and I see it almost every time I play.
Exactly ... if the matchmaking was constantly putting 6 v 15 then okay thats due to a lack of players but when the teams are 16 v 16 and there are 2 squads of people with 15m sp + on 1 side and 16 randoms of guys with 2m sp and below then that is a matchmaking issue not seperating players in a balanced manner
it really shouldn;t be that difficult to stick the 2 squads of guys with 15m sp + on DIFFERENT teams and then fill the other spots with randoms .. that would make the matches alot more balanced
Sadly CCP don't seem to be able to understand that logic lol
The example in my OP is a rare occurance just like when you have 1 team full of players v 0 enemies .. the real issue is putting 2 squads of proto's on 1 team v none on the other |
